I usually go here for Lunch - from my previous experiences at lunch I would give this place 4/5 stars - its reliable but not unique or spectacular.
However, tonight we did dinner. The Food and Sushi were good - better than expected for the sushi. The salad is always good, that ginger dressing is awesome. That said - the server (I always seem to get the same dude who does not seem to care about life what so ever) - he leaves so much to be desired. Zero Personality, zero care to communicate, say hi, have any discussion what so ever. He spent more time in the BOH than in the dinning room. He delivered us water glasses with just ice, and made us pour our own waters from a "fancy" water container. He did not pre-buss what so ever, I literally had to stack all of our trash and used plates and such on the table next to us because the server only came to the table to take our order and drop off our food - and he did not pick up one thing when dropping off our dinner. And he NEVER came back. Some of our food was spicy so we actually we ran out of water, and we were not able get more because no one cared to check on us after we got our food. After waiting more than 10 minutes after we had finished our dinner and stacked all of our plates neatly to get them out of our way, I told my wife and kid to head home (separate cars) and I waited another couple minutes to pay the bill. Ultimately I had to go to another server to pay because our guy never came back to the dinning room.
Before tip, for 2 adults and 1 child, our bill was $82. I don't mind spending the money on decent food - especially food I could not make better at my house - but but to receive such poor service is frustrating. Someone needs to train the server up on what...
Read moreAfter a long week at work, I was really dreading having to come home and make dinner. My friends had been raving about this restaurant claiming that its their favorite spot since moving to the neighborhood.
Now I love sushi.
I was a little skeptical about ordering it in a small town, but this place blew all expectations.
My wife and came for an early dinner around 5 after she finished with errands for the day. This place was rather unassuming from the outside located in between several shops and hole-in-the-wall shops, but once through the door, the ambiance was nice. The place was quaint and nicely decorated. Surprisingly, we were the only customers they had at that time.
We were greeted and seated promptly. Service was amazing between the two gentlemen working last night. Drinks came out very quickly.
Now for the most important part: the food!
We started with fried gyoza. It was very flavorful with a light crisp on the outside and a perfectly juicy and savory inside.
My wife ordered the hibachi steak fried rice. It was seasoned well and a great value for the portion she received. Perhaps the only thing that could have made it better would have been to include veggies as well like many place offering hibachi do.
As for myself, I ordered a rainbow roll and a volcano roll. Both were some of the freshest I've had as well as the best I've had since moving to the area. They're reasonably priced as well for what you receive.
The staff was nice enough to provide two complimentary housemade donuts free of charge as a dessert too! They were very tasty.
Give these guys your business and you won't be disappointed! They certainly deserve...
Read moreWow the Chinese food was truly awful. I ordered the duck, hot/clay pot and some stir fried noodles. The usually beautifully carved duck from the kind you buy hanging in windows was literally shredded with almost no meat, highly overcooked from reheating and just a tragic mess like I have never seen in the decades I've ordered it and served with vegetables literally sticky coated with Hoisin sauce. Yuck and $17 blown. The hot pot dish they told me they are cooking by heating on the stove as stir fry which defeats the entire point of slow cook to retain flavor and juices sealed in the clay pot and instead resulted in a vastly overcooked mess of rubber meats with thin sliced ruining the tofu cubes that are supposed to be succulent. So yet again yuck and $17 blown. The stir fry udon noodles (they have no chow fun) were acceptable except for again being mixed with overcooked and dried out items again. They have only one recipe for Chinese brown sauce and clearly have no idea how to do the white and other sauces. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I was this disappointed in a restaurant. Given how much of my time I spent explaining to the owner how the dishes should be cooked you would think the meal was free, but instead we got a lot of dog food for the money. Do not order anything on the menu over $10 and you'd probably be fine. My boyfriend got cooked sushi roles which he thought were OK, but with their attitude of knowing they have no clue and foisting incorrectly and badly cooked items on their patrons, I would...
