My first experience here was terrible. Old "fried" chicken that I cannot explain just how dry this thing was or how many days (yes days not hours) this thing had been sitting around. But they recently said they had changed their menu and food options so we went again for breakfast. Let me start with the positives. It's clean, good decor, good overall vibes, wait staff was excellent and friendly. My husband eggs (over medium) were cooked perfectly and the biscuits were amazing. But.....Please use spices to create flavor! I'm not sure why this is hard. I had an omelette with burnt bacon in it. I can't explain the texture but the eggs should be fluffy. The cheese should be inside the omelette with a good cheese pull. Instead the eggs had a very strange thin plastic like texture to them. I THINK they put cheese in the egg? I can't explain what was going on there and it was stuffed with super crunchy burnt bacon. Their "home fries" were nothing more than large pieces of cooked potatoes. No flavor just a tiny bit of salt and they were not seared enough so more like eating boiled potato pieces. Try cutting smaller and use some herbs and cook longer on the grill. Gravy was barely peppered so basically tasteless. Sausage gravy would be a win as long as it has flavor. This is so close to home and I really want to like it but I hate to pay for bland and...
Read moreWe have ate at Granny's many times. We have taken family there to eat when they come to visit. We always warn, you never know what your going to get, so just flow with it. My husband and I have ordered to go meals a few times. We find it to be hit or miss...seems it is super fantastic or super bad. Ordered the potato salad; which previously had enjoyed, got a soupy raw potatoe mess, this happened several times in a row and I just stopped ordering it. The hash browns are always raw; I don't order them, but on the other hand their home fries are usually excellent. I once ordered a double order of biscuits and gravy....2 biscuits with a small cup of gravy that won't even cover 1 biscuit....isn't that a regular order? You guessed it..... I just don't order it any more. There are lots of things we just stopped ordering and are hoping to find that sweet spot we know will be consistently good. Most of their food is exceptional. I want so badly to love Granny's and support a local business. This type of restaurant is where my heart is. I was raised working, cooking, cleaning and serving in restaurants like Grannys, I love when the food i eat reminds me of my Mom's or my own cooking. After so many years I have found myself not thinking about going there as much, but we will continue to because when it's good......it's...
Read moreThis was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a restaurant and felt like I was in the twilight zone. I ordered the pork chop and eggs, home fries with wheat toast no butter on the toast. When I got my plate the toast had butter, the pork chops were over cooked and dry, and my home fries had mushrooms in them which were supposed to have onions instead of mushrooms. So I asked to get new toast with no butter and home fries with no mushrooms. About 5 minutes later I got my home fries but no toast. It took about 15 minutes until the waitress came by asking if everything was ok, I said I still needed my toast. She came back with the toast that she forgot and it had turned into crackers. At this point all my food was cold and I had toast that crumbled into crumbs. The waitress asked if I wanted fresh food so I said yes please. 2 minutes later the owner of the restaurant came out mad at me questioning what was wrong with my food. I began to explain what happened but he cut me off telling me that they couldn't please my needs and told me he wouldn't serve me warm fresh toast! The owner disappeared to the kitchen and the waitress wouldn't come back to the table. We paid for our other plates and left. I'll never...
