We have driven by Giacomo's many times and thought "eh, maybe another time". Today we saw the owner's post on Facebook about protecting the health of his employees and the community by enforcing the requirement to wear masks. We knew then that this was a restaurant that deserved our support.
We ordered three entrees and Crabby Fries. The entrees came with bread and a salad. The salads were fresh and appropriately sized for a side. The bread came in the form of a small cigar shaped roll. It was very tasty.
Our entrees were as follows: Chicken Marsala, Salsa Siciliana, and Eggplant Parmesan. The Marsala was very tasty with a very good helping of chicken and mushrooms. We drove 25 minutes home so the eggplant wasn't as good as it would have been when first cooked (not their fault, but ours). That being said, we all loved it. The sauce was good and not so abundant as to drown out the flavor of the eggplant. I personally ate the Salsa Siciliana. The linguine was well cooked. The sauce was tangy and had a fair amount of capers (which I love) and cherry tomatoes.
Now on to the crabby fries. My wife said those are reason enough for us to become regular customers. They were super tasty and we wished we had ordered two. The fries were good but the toppings were where it was at.
On to the staff. Giacomo came out and personally talked to me and thanked me for my business. My father owns a pizza shop (41 years in business so far). This pandemic has taken a toll on small business owners like Giacomo and my father. But, Giacomo gets that this pandemic is bigger than himself or his business. So, in the interest of community health, he strictly enforces best health practices. Originally from Sicily and still having family there, Giacomo knows the toll that this pandemic takes on a nation and its citizens. He knows that a minor inconvenience (masks) in the interest of the overall community is well worth it. Giacomo, thank you for doing what you are doing.
We will be back and hope that you will give this great place and great person...
Read moreUpdate- this is STILL the place to be! Best Italian food for miles and miles- the sauces alone are divine, then there is the delicious bread, the wonderful atmosphere and owner who ensures you have an amazing experience, and now the dining area is fully renovated and just lovely. You CANNOT go wrong here. A few things you may want to try- squash soup (it is not on the menu but ask! It is utterly divine!) their salads are out of this world, and my father- a native New Yorker- says the pasta with sausage and peppers outshines even Italy itself for amazing! You CANNOT go wrong here! Be smart and bring a bottle of wine, your appetite, and enjoy the rich family friendly atmosphere and the owner, Jack’s wonderful presence. You can not go wrong!
Italian night is a MUST. If you love Italian food, like Giacomo’s on Facebook and look out for Italian night- the owner and Chef will create a full, multi course dinner that is absolutely out of this world. The restaurant is closed that Tuesday and open only for this very special celebration- and omg is it an experience few even realize is offered right here in Chambersburg/Fayetteville!
As a daily restaurant, the food is very good, the fresh baked bread delicious, and staff very friendly and attentive. There isn’t a bad thing on the menu and everything I’ve ever eaten is just delicious.
If you get lucky enough to see squash soup on the menu in autumn- do yourself a favor and order it. It changed my opinion completely on that gourd! Lol....

EDITED REVIEW- EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. WHAT HAPPENED? Sadly I have to edit this review. I tried to post a new one but it wouldn't allow me to. I ate there again this evening (7-28-25). I always get the Italian pot roast. It has always been delicious. I've probably gotten it about 10 times and it has always been absolutely the best. Lots of meat but not this time. It was extremely disappointing. The dinner consisted of mainly pasta in a sauce With a few small pieces of roast. The sauce was good but there was very little meat on the plate. What meat was on there was actually all fatty and I couldn't even eat it. I pushed it off to the side to show the waiter. When I told him that the meat was so fatty and I couldn't eat it and there was very little of the roast that was not fat, he simply commented "oh okay". When I paid he asked me again how it was and I told him I was extremely disappointed. He said he would tell the chef. The food was absolutely terrible tonight. It was not worth $20. One could have probably made this dish for about $4 if that much. The salad was good. I did give five stars for service because the waiter was extremely attentive. I'm just hoping that he...
