I am revising my last review, because new owners have taken over and great changes are taken place, thus this warranted a new review! I recently visited this enjoyable establishment, Paupack Hills Golf and Country Club during their Margarita and Tequila tasting event. This place has been transforming into a wonderfully updated and cozy setting with a lot of energy that circulates every inch of this place. The modernized dining room is absolutely beautiful with its wooden floors, fireplaces and brand new tables/ chairs! The menu has also been advanced, to dishes that are more current and desirable! There is a new chef where the previous chef once stood, and this one is spot on! The menu now has flare and the food is bursting with flavor.... The plating is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and my palate was singing with every bite. (If there is one thing I am well seasoned in, it's exceptional food) and this place has it! I took the time to speak with the new owners at length over a cocktail, after my meal. They tell me they will also be updating the outside of the building, as well as the deck that overlooks the golf course! All their ideas and intentions for Paupack Hills have all it's patrons in mind. The service is also awesome, with friendly, personable staff. I look forward to my visit again, on April 28th for their Welcoming Cocktail Party! Mark your calendars, trust me when I say you will not be...
Read moreBeautiful course. Found this course on my way from New York to Wilkes-Barre. Happen to meet Vinny the owner on the road to the clubhouse (could not find it, LOL). Asked if this course was public, he stated that it had just gone private, but said I was more then welcome to play. Glad I did. It is very well laid out course. Lots of great views. Saw deer and turkeys out on the course. Probably the best greens I have ever played. The only reason for the I did not give it 5 stars was due to the bunkers. No sand, lots of stones and rocks. I see on the website that this is an issues they are planning to address next year. If they do as good of a job on them as their greens this will be a magnificent course. Shame it is going to be private. If you get in the area this year yet you may get an opportunity to pay it without being a member.
To Vinny, Sorry I did not get a chance to talk to after my round. Was getting late and I still had an hour drive ahead of me. Thank you very much for letting me play this course. Was the highlight of my golfing this year. ...
Read moreI played 27 holes this weekend and was highly disappointed. It started with the staff who have no clue what cordial means. They treat guests like second class citizens when you walk into the clubhouse. They act like its Augusta National. If you want act like its a big time private club, don't allow guests. If you want to increase revenue by allowing outsiders, treat them like you care.
The tee boxes were awful. Dirt and crab grass. The greens were super slow and beat up. I'll give them some benefit because they just punched the greens and they still needed to heal. But please don't expect me to spend over $60 for a round when its maintained like a muni.
There was no one on the course when our wedding party teed off. No one. We had 5 guys and wanted to play together but they wanted none of this and threatened to kick us off the course. So we split up and both groups finished in three hours. Couldn't get off the course fast enough.
If you are planning to visit the area and play golf, I'd strongly suggest you spend your...
