If you're looking for really good Mexican street food at a street food price, this is where you need to go. There are a lot of Mexican spots in Greenville, and Anita's is one of the best in town, but what sets it apart is its consistency and its price. Around noon this place is jumpin', so try to get in there by 11:30 if you don't want to wait for a table. There is not a lot of seating and the decor is pretty spartan, but that's not why you're here. You're here because there are no better tacos and gorditas in town at this price. This is the real deal. They make everything to order so while you might wait a little longer than you expected for tacos, they come out hot, fresh, and delicious EVERY time. I go there all the time and the food is consistently on point. And it's is pretty cheap compared to some of the bigger Mexican restaurants, which makes this a solid choice for a weekday lunch. Check their hours on Maps before you go; they kind of have a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place should have a line out the door just to get in. Authentic hand-made Mexican food. The owner is a real Mexican Chef. For lunch I recommend their artfully presented tostada and two shredded beef tacos.
Everything is al a carte so you won't find a "Speedy Gonzales" combo or free chips. However, if you request it they will put some refried beans on your plate (speaking of which, do not contain a 50/50 blend of lard).
Their salsas are made fresh and are flavorful and hot. Their sweet salsa is so good I ate the rest with a spoon. The owner tells me that he roasts the peppers before making the salsa. The heat is fantastic and there are no burning aftereffects (If you know what I mean).
This is the food your Madre would make if she were Mexicana. I now eat here about twice a week.
You will spend between $5 - $7 for three items...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreListen, I have not had authentic food like this since I lived in Texas. I got the burrito, and if you think you can eat the whole thing in one sitting, I will take the bet. Fast and courteous service, and the kitchen crew loves to laugh. I came in for lunch witht daughter and she was impressed (she's 7 it's hard to do that). The only thing that I saw that I didn't agree with is, the patrons leaving their trash on the table when they have a reserved spot for platters, trays, and trash. It's 2025, show some respect, get with the times, and clear your own table. The only thing anyone should have to do behind you, is wipe the tables down for the...
