Poppys Smokehouse — Restaurant in Greenville

I'm not one to write reviews but Poppy's more than merits one. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to operate a restaurant during the pandemic, let alone open one. The brisket was done to perfection and the smoke ring was on point. The burnt ends stole the show and were as tender and delicious as I've ever had. The bbq was great, with a sweet-n-smokey balance paired with that Eastern NC vinegar tang we all love and enjoy. The fries were seasoned and crispy. Their sauces are unique and compliment the meats well. The service was great and left nothing to be desired. So happy to have a well rounded bbq restaurant in the area offering more than just the traditional whole hog our area is known for and already inundated with. We will definitely make this place a staple for our family and guests...

It's pretty expensive and I hoped the quality was going to be there but it seems the best thing we got was the brisket sandwich which was good. We got burnt ends the brunswick stew and the mac and cheese. The brunswick stew was bland all the meat was dry that was in the railroad platter. we were hoping the brunswick stew would at least be good so we could get some closer to home than lasker. I saw in a previous response they only have one full time cook so I'm sure its hard to keep up but for the price it just isn't worth...

The food is excellent! One of the best briskets we've had from a restaurant. The squash and onions was stewed, so more of a thick soup. The sweet potato fries were nothing special. When we arrived at 6 they were already running out of food. So get there early. They do a lot of take out and were busy. The kitchen was understaff for the volume of business.
