Arrived by boat and were served right there on the dock. It was a fun little picnic. We had lobster bombs and rolls. Although the bomb is 1/2 lb as opposed to the 1/4 lb roll, the bread was not as soft and delicious. The bomb is served in a bread bowl…like Panera style. It was coarse and doughy. Would prefer double meat on a traditional roll or a two roll option. We got out with three adults and one kid for around $190 with entrees only. No drinks. Pretty expensive. But that’s market rates for Lobster these days.

We had heard about the lobster bomb and had to go and try it. Went on a nice sunny day, and were thankful we did, as this place is tucked away right on the water, outside dining only, bring a hat and sweatshirt just in case. Small parties <4 are best as seating is limited. Parking is tight, leave the Denali at home. Soda and water are available, but you can BYOB. Now the food was excellent, staff were great. This is not a rush meal, savor it. Lastly some menu items are market price, and they do have limited kids menu.

Good food, excellent service, beautiful views. We come for the Lobster Bomb. It's a gimmick lobster roll that is pretty damn tasty. Is it worth $40 and the two hours we waited? Probably not. But if you have the time and the cash, it's definitely an experience and a great chill night. It's BYOB, so not paying restaurant rates on booze is nice, on top of it. There's a liquor store (or a package store as I'm told they're called) up a hill which for this scared of heights fat guy was rough but tolerable to get up.

Well I'll start by saying that the food was delicious. I've never been to Ford's before but my girlfriend and I took a trip out as she has been there and we had a free day. We were told there was a 1/2 hour wait, which wasn't a big deal; we walked to a local package store as it's BYOB to kill some time. We ended up waiting 1hr 15min for a table. Again, not really a big deal. Once it was our time to sit (you get a text), we went to the hostess station and were told by 4 separate employees they'd "be right with us". We were sat eventually, and ordered immediately as we had time to review the menu while we waited (crab cake appetizer and two lobster blt sandwiches). We then witnessed numerous boats and other land going patrons arrive after us, with large parties, be seated and served and LEAVE before we got our appetizer. Out meal took us 1.5hrs to get and then I was so annoyed of waiting to pay I had to interrupt our server who was just hanging out having a conversation with another server that I'd like to pay and leave.

I normally do not take the time to write reviews like an angry person on Yelp. I usually only take the time to write reviews of places and give an honest assessment promoting most of them after a good experience. Ford's has a great reputation and I'm not suggesting it's unfounded. It may have not been a great day to go there and that's fine, but I do not plan on returning any time in the...

The restaurant itself might be small in size but the taste of the food packs a big punch. It is a BYOB establishment and a very nice liquor store only a walk away. Located right on the water with an astonishing view. The waitress that worked the evening we went started with our table and the place quickly filled up. She was able to handle all the tables with ease, never forgetting what table had what or what table asked for something. Very good service. The food is incredible. We started with a Spinach-Artichoke dip that was incredible fresh and cheesy. the bread that came with it was the perfect addiction for dipping and eating. Also order Lobster Croquettes that were phenomenal, crunchy, chewy and delicious. The Lobster Bomb with Lobster Bisque was ordered by us both, because that is what this place and visit was all about. The Lobster Bomb was unbelievable, HUGE amount of meat, the bread bowl absorbed all the flavor and was eaten to finish up any remains that existed on the plate. It truly was a great experience. This was my first visit there and will not be the last. I also should state that this was the first time that I had eaten lobster. I do not care for seafood often but when in Rome, as they say...You will not be disappointed in visiting this establishment whether for a lunch or dinner or something romantic. It has it all. Going back in the summertime for the...

This seafood restaurant was suggested to my husband and myself from his buddy who is a single man who eats out often. We drove up there from the Milford , CT. area because of his wonderful review of Fords Restaurant. We were SO disappointed because we have lived in CT all our lives and know Good, great and the best ever seafood restaurants. Fords is a 6 out of 1 thru 10 and with 10 being the best we both ordered the lobster casserole and it was just average. Nothing at all special about Fords restaurant or this particular lobster casserole and it didn’t have an abundance of lobster in it was at best average and very expensive. Inside of restaurant is the tiniest eat in restaurant I have ever been in so if you are claustrophobic you will feel crammed in with tables having very little space in between tables. There are so many better CT. seafood restaurants that we would NOT recommend...
