Fords Black & Blue — Restaurant in Groton

So So So Good. On a trip to show my son my old stomping grounds! We visited Mystic Aquarium and my wife and I decided to NOT EAT in Tourist Trap Mystic. So she did some research and found Ford's. On a funny side note, after we ate and I posted photos on Facebook about going to this little hole in the wall we "Found", most of my Friends have been here and many come often. All asking if we got the "Lobster Bomb", which I would of if I knew earlier... Instead we received AWESOME, Friendly Service from the lovely and happy lady working the Bar area for Lunch on Thur 4/18/25. Our son got a Grilled Cheese and Fries that he LOVED. Mom and Dad split the Delicious Shrimp and Garlic Sauce for a lunchtime App then shared the Fish and Chips and the Regular Lobster Roll.. Added in a Pear Martini that was OUTSTANDING.

The Lobster Roll is the Best one I've ever had. Hands Down. So Fresh. Perfect Bread. Perfect Butter. I've eaten my way through the From Galilee Rhode Island up through the Cape and Boston and have had more LobsterRolls then i can ever mention. This one Stands Out as the BEST one. If anyone asks me where I think the Best "Connecticut Style (Warm Butter)" Roll is this is it 100%!

The Fish and Chips - Not the Standard fair Thick and Gloppy Beer Batter. Instead these where Lightly Fried and Battered to Perfection. My only complaint was I would of liked a bigger portion because the fish was SO DAMN GOOD. On future Visits I will APP a Lobster Roll and get the Fish & Chips.

On another Note, the Fries!!! YUM!!! So Damn Good. Skin on and Fresh. NOT GREASY. Just like the Fish and Chips were not Greasy!

I was helping a friend pick up some exercise equipment in groton,CT yesterday. Her friend recommended black and blue as a good seafood place for lunch, so we decided to go there. When we walked into the place, there was a strong lingering oder of fish throughout the entire place, that was the first sign of trouble. We sat down and ordered. The food came in lightening speed which at first was awesome, but now thinking back at it, just weird(food might have been left out for awhile getting spoiled). I got the clam chowder and fish and chips. I didn't detect anything wrong with the food; nothing smelled foul. About an hour after leaving, I got a massive headache which lasted over 12 hours(I popped 4 anacins which normally knocks out my head aches in 20 minutes). My stomach has turning and I felt Nausea. My friend commented several times throughout the day that my color didn't look good. I know my body well as well as being a doctor. I am very healthy person.. Being a lover of seafood, im sorry to report that this seafood was not fresh and was served to us spoiled (based on how I felt immediately after eating the food,, and the speed of how fast it was served to us; the waitress was super nice and helpful). The seafood was not fresh and caused me to get sick (which never happens to me, unless the seafood is bad quality and has spoiled). I don't know the history of this place because I don't live in this area(it was a day visit), but the seafood got me sick. So I guess currently, this restaurant has dropped the ball on quality. Oh my gosh, that experience was awful! My siblings and I intended to take our dad out for dinner for Father's Day at one of his favorite restaurants, and we left incredibly disappointed (and hungry)! When we first entered the establishment there was no host/hostess to be seen. We waited patiently (mind you, we did have a reservation for 6:30 pm) as we arrived a little early. Ten minutes went by and still no one came to seat us. The wait staff were milling about, a couple of the girls were aware of our presence, but continued to ignore us. One of my sister's had to approach one of the waitresses to ask where the restroom was and if we could get some assistance. It was 6:40 when one of the waitresses directed us to our table and we were finally sat and told us that one of the servers would be over to help us shortly. We thanked her and waited... and waited... until 7:18 pm. We didn't order drinks, we didn't even meet our server! All of my siblings and I have all worked in customer service (restaurants and the like) and we all agree that this was ridiculous. Anyway, we left at 7:20 pm and went to Red 36.
