We have been to Groton Publick House many times before and have always enjoyed both the food and the service, which makes this experience especially disappointing. I would not normally write a review like this, hit the experience was so terrible I had to say something!
On Saturday evening at 5pm, our group of six arrived and ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrées right away to make things easier for the server. Unfortunately, in the hour and a half we sat there, the only thing we received was our first round of drinks. Meanwhile, we watched other tables who arrived after us be served both their appetizers and entrées while we were still waiting.
What made the situation worse was that our server never once came by to check in, refill drinks, or even acknowledge the delay. After waiting far too long with no updates, we finally gave up, paid for our drinks, and left.
We’ve always liked this restaurant in the past, but this experience was very disappointing. We truly hope it was just an off night, but the lack of communication and attentiveness left us...
Read moreOrdered to go for the first time tonight. We were tired and just didn't want to cook on a Friday night. We ordered 2 burgers and pretzel appetizer. The burgers were good, although cold, but none of the special instructions were followed. We added special instructions for BOTH burgers that were "garlic fries", we did not get garlic fries. And even though the "pretzel" appetizer was to come with "house cheddar ale sauce" on their online menu, we still requested it because this "toast alert" menu didn't specifically say it. We got pretzels with NO SAUCE AT ALL. Garlic pretzels. None of the special instructions were followed. I guess if you're going to order from this place, I'd try calling them directly vs. ordering from the online app. I would try them again, MAYBE, if I called them direct. We paid $40 for 2 burgers with fries, and the pretzel app. Would gladly pay that for a good product....
Read moreTried the publick house for the first time with my wife. The steak tips and fries were really good, probably some of the best Ive had in a while. The burger was definitely decent too. A little too greasy for me though. We also got a couple mixed drinks. The mule was VERY strong. Strong enough that I drank a quarter of it and decided since I was driving I shouldnt drink anymore of it. The rumaway drink was okay, also a little strong. And it also separated within 30 seconds of arriving on the table. The wait staff was very polite, but definitely very new. It was especially evident when they couldn't pronounce 3/4 of the words on their specials menu. The waitress needs to work on being a little less blunt. All in all, definitely wasnt a horrible experience and we will...
