I love Vinnie's food and have gotten take out on numerous occasions in the past 20 or so years but those of you with a service dog be forewarned that they violate federal law by not allowing your service dog in the restaurant. Today I took a friend there to dine in on the way home from her chemo treatment and was forced to eat outside.
Federal law states they may not refuse admittance, isolate, segregate, or treat you less favorably than other patrons. They may not ask you to remove your service dog from the premises unless the dog is out of control. Any business that sells or prepares food must allow service dogs in public areas even if state or local health codes prohibit animals on the premises.
This is the first time my service dog was refused admittance anywhere. We have been in numerous high end restaurants, grocery stores, museums, hospitals, doctors offices, and businesses without any problems. They simply ask if it’s a service dog or just look at his vest which identifies him as one.
I tried to explain the law to the person who told me my dog couldn't be there, but he didn't even want to discuss it or look at the copy of the law I keep in a pocket of his vest.
Today was not an issue because it was nice weather and it wasn't worth the conflict right then, but what if it was storming, windy, or it was winter.
I will continue to grab a quick little takeout for myself but won't be coming back with...

Vinnie's food is consistently good (though my last steak and cheese was pretty grisly). We love their pizza, and their steak and cheese subs are the best I've found in the area. Unfortunately, their service leaves something to be desired.
The last time I called in to place a takeout order, a girl picked up and said "please hold." Nearly 8 minutes later a different person picked up the phone and said "What is your phone number?" No apology. No sorry for the long wait. When I said, hey, I'm not trying to be rude but I was on hold for like 8 min. That's a long time. The only response was "We're busy, I don't know what you want me to say."
Busy or not, a customer is a customer. A simple "I'm sorry for the long wait, we're slammed. What's your phone number?" would go a really long way. Being busy doesn't mean you can treat customers with...
Read moreThe employees were NOT friendly and efficient in proving service. They acted as if I was a nuisance and shouldn't be bothering them while they are doing nothing. Its hard work doing nothing. And for the baked ziti I ordered. WOW! It couldn’t have been worse. No taste no garlic no oregano no meat. Most cooks know you have to cook the spices into the food at certain times while cooking. Adding spices after cooked just does not blend into the taste. The BEST baked ziti I ever had was at a Greek restaurant in Tarpon Springs, FL. Imagine that. BTW, Tarpon Springs, FL was setted by Greek Sponge divers FROM Greece. The “Italian” employees at Vinny’s I don't think are actually from Italian. So they dont have the first hand knowledge of making Italian food. They may have grandma’s recipe but it doesn’t provide all the nuances of make good ilation baked ziti. Not even mozzarella cheese in it. And the sauce...
