The Slice
My family and another family came to dine on a Friday right at opening (4 adults and 4 children). There were at least 10 employees present throughout our dinning experience and two other single family party’s dinning. This is the sadly was the worst dining experience I have ever had.
We were looking forward to trying this restaurant since they moved locations and had more space for dine in options. Unfortunately we were met with disappointment after disappointment.
When we came in the door someone asked how many and sat us but did not provide any menus, napkins, nothing and walked away. When we finally received menus 50% of the items on the menu were crossed out with a permeant marker…..to include all large pizzas. Then a supervisors saw one of us glancing at the beers on tap because no one had spoken to us and the beers were not listed on the menu and asked one person in our party what he would like from across the bar; ignoring the rest of the party’s orders.
We then ordered two appetizers and waited approximately 10 minutes before we gave a waitress our dinner order. While waiting for our apps the pizzas slowly started coming. I asked the waitress about our apps and she stated that the way “they” do things is just when orders come in so they had a lot of to go orders. I then questioned that we put in app orders well before pizza orders so how could they possible be after pizza? She never answered my questions. When I asked to speak to a supervisor a gentleman came to the table and I explained I wanted to make sure all of our order was put in. Twice he assured me it had been put in and he would comp us the one app!!
Then out came a pizza that we did not order and still missing an app. I asked a passing waitress (who was not ours) if we were going to get our other pizza. She said let me check and walked behind the counter. She then walked back by us without speaking. I spoke up to her and she waved her hand and said they are checking as she continued to walk. I went to the counter to explain what we were still missing and the supervisor walked away from me as I was talking saying “oh that’s the one”!
He came back to the table and asked us if we liked cannolis. He then said “I’m gonna give y’all some in case you wanna try them”. At no point did our waitress or the supervisor apologize for the mess up. In fact on multiple occasions several staff were behind the counter staring at us, talking, and laughing. This lead me to believe they were talk about our complaints in a malicious way. The last pizza came out after we asked for the Togo boxes and checks.
Also while there we witnessed cooks wearing gloves then grabbing pens to write orders on boxes and not changing gloves before grabbing toppings and pizzas again.
We overall liked the flavor of the pizza but the grossly neglect customer service means we will never come back to dine in or out here. Very sad when what appeared to be the owner engaged with us on their Facebook post about how excited we were to come...
Read moreGreat customer service on my first visit. Ordered a medium pepperoni pizza and paid $12.14, waited for five minutes in vehicle and pizza was brought out to me. Upon opening the box I saw two slices that literally looked like they had been squished in the middle. There were some pieces that reflected crust and others where there was no crust. It was odd. The pizza sauce is bland and I couldn't really taste the garlic oil that was added to pizza. Overall, I probably won't return. I will try the other pizza place in Hahira or the franchise pizza places in town. Doughboys in Adel has amazing pizza that can be purchased by the slice as well as various types of salad!!!
UPDATE: To my surprise, I received a response for this review and contacted The Slice to speak with new owner as requested. The gentleman that answered informed me that the owner had "just stepped out" and took my name and number. As of yet, I have not received a...
Read moreThis is the worst case of "Shrinkflation" I've seen 15.99 for a 12in pizza that is the same size as a frozen pizza from Dollar General This Pizza was an insult with the gritty nasty Cornmeal bottom to the fact that i was told to come pick it up 60 mins from the time of ordering for the Pizza to be sitting on a rack for 25-30 mins and it being cold The biggest issue is This is not the Slice of a 15.99 Pizza especially when i can go to Downhome .3 miles away and get a full size pizza with a proper flour bottom.... Shame I was hoping for a good NY style Pizza place like where I grew up. :(
PS: I weighed my 1lb of wings it was only .6 pounds (because ive never seen a restaurant sell wings by the lb usually its by Count) basically missing half a lb who ever is planning on order their 1lb of wings for 14.99 its actually 8-10 wings that weigh...
