Hallamshire Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Hallam

Update: We've been here for various meals at least 10 times in the past year, and we've tried plenty of options on the menu (all of the club sandwiches, many of the omelettes, several salads, broasted chicken, etc...). Everything that we have had has been very good diner style food. And the wait staff does a good job of taking care of the customers, refilling glasses and checking in on us. Still a good recommendation if you are in the area looking for a good place to eat.

Original: Stopped in here for lunch one Sunday, and was pleasantly surprised all around. The food was very good, and plentiful. My wife had an omlette, I tried their reuben, and my daughter had a roast beef club sandwich. We were all very happy with the food, it tasted very good, and was very satisfying. The roast beef club was particularly good - with thick slices of real roast beef (not processed). The reuben could have used a little more corned beef, as well as a little more sauerkraut, but overall, it was good. The service was very good - the wait staff hustled and were very attentive to refills for water, iced tea, coffee, etc.... Glad we found this little diner, as it will be some place we will be...

Went there hungry, with my mate looking for a nice lunch. Wow, did we hit the jackpot!!! We were welcomed within 30 seconds of entering the restaurant by a cheerful and friendly waitress who sat us immediately into a comfortable booth. She took our drink order right away. Fast service as the waitress had already put out menus and tableware. She came back as friendly as ever to see if we were ready. It was a tough call as there were so many choices. There was a full page of daily lunch specials as well as a regular full menu! Tons of choices for such a small place. We ordered off the specials' menu. Roast chicken w/gravy and stuffing. My mate ordered a chef salad. (Huge) Seriously, the food was on our table in a blink of an eye. Both dishes were huge and also homemade and delicious, from the gravy and stuffing to the turkey in her chef salad. Both dishes were fantastic. Can't say enough about this place, yes, we will go again, as they do not disappoint. A rare kind of gem, you really will...

The owners (Stacey & George) are great business owners and even better human beings. Recently, my daughter and her four young children were hit by a drunk driver in front of the restaurant around 6 pm. Everyone survived the head on accident but throughout, I saw a genuine care and compassion as they absolutely went out of their way to calm my grandkids and my entire family. Dozens of Hellam, Wrightsville and Springettsbury service personnel were on the scene quickly. They too were incredible. I can tell you as a local resident, their food is delicious. But watching them and their entire staff of young women serve pancakes, hot dogs, fries and endless ice cream to my family was beyond generous. They would not take a dime.
