Attention Seniors whatever you do on Monday evening for a meal stop what you’re doing and head to Zukey Lake Tavern. The chicken pasta buffet is worth the $12 per person price for a great meal. Linda our waitress who also serves as their bartender did a fantastic job, serving us being cheerful, thoughtful, constantly removing dishes, and just doing her job in a great job, and additionally, I was watching a waiter by the name of Jesse, who was in the background, working very very hard his table, and I can tell by the two of them that they totally retrieved very very well, but they personally had a great personality. Is it really exited the customer and customer service In fact, they worked well together on a couple groups of people he did a great job both of them, the Buffay consists of several different treats first the chicken I will tell you whoever the supplier is for chicken for Zukey lake. I hope Suki lake never gets rid of him. This is the best chicken moist a lot of meat on the breast, especially that was absolutely delicious. The pizza had a great variety of flavors depending on which one of the Pizza Chef Baked at the time the pasta was good. I was disappointed because I wanted the pasta to be warmer but as I thought about it, the macaroni and cheese, and the mostaccioli were a temperature of the children would love. My young grandchildren do not like to eat hot food so even though I would like the food to be warmer, it was a perfect. It would be a perfect temperature for them so I am not going to use this as a negative. The food was served appropriate. The chicken was served hot the soup is served hot, it was just good food all the chicken was the chicken fingers whatever they were delicious as well. The salad bar the coleslaw has always been great. The artichoke salad is delicious. I did not do their lettuce salad cause I usually can get that at any restaurant, so I kind of skipped it, but I’m a hold all the food served at the Buffay was spot on But I especially appreciated the pride of the dishwasher who really worked works hard to keep us healthy. I appreciate the wait staff, especially Linda for doing such a conscientious job for us and I really appreciate that since Covid the price for this Buffay really has not gone up that much compared to other restaurants. This truly is a value for senior citizens and for anyone else come on down on Monday nights for the chicken pasta pizza Buffay.
I intentionally did not take pictures because the photographs would not have done the food justice, chicken pizza pasta. all look the same no matter where you go, however, the flavors that the shot are the chef chose for each of these pieces of food was spot on and he has been here for many years. I’ve come here for the past three decades, and I have rarely been disappointed so please consider this venue venue for your next Monday night meal.
Update: Zuckey Lake is now closed on Mondays. The delicious buffet is now a thing of the past. After decades eating here, I have no reason now to return sad loss of a great meal. ...
Read moreIn the past, I have eaten in the restaurant and the food was what you expect, for a tavern. Ok, not great, but fair enough. This place is about the atmosphere of being by the lake, ect. Some people come here just to drink. The service has always been excellent, with the wait staff. I mean, really great wait staff. But in general, I don't think this place is successful because of the food. Nothing could make that more obvious than experiencing the food alone, minus the atmosphere and attentive service. Tonight we ordered our food 'take out' on a busy night, it being Memorial weekend. The food was absolutely gross. I couldn't eat any of it. Ordered a burger medium, as did my husband, and they both were so undercooked that the buns were soggy with blood. Completely red and raw inside. The bite I took, there was a hard piece of bone in the meat, as well. The fries were dried out, greasy, and had no flavor. Like cardboard. We also had an order of Mozzarella sticks. They were cold and very much resembled the frozen kind we buy from Costco. Additionally, the person who I paid for my takeout was rude, because I didn't tip for a takeout order. I said "thanks" when they handed me the food, and they looked at the receipt, saw I hadn't tipped, and replied "thanks" back, but in a sarcastic, mocking, lowered and annoyed voice. I was taken back by that, as I exited, but didn't know how bad the food was, until I got home. I just didn't think I needed to tip when I wasn't sitting in the restaurant for dinner. It turns out, I am very glad I didn't tip, since my dinner went straight into the garbage, because it was completely inedible. Almost $50 for a dinner for 2, that was garbage. And I was very hungry! But I would rather be hungry than eat that food. I would rather have gotten McDonald's, for that matter. Not sure if this is because it was a busy night, and the kitchen was slammed, or what. But I will think twice about eating here again. Had we eaten in the restaurant, I would have sent my food back. And I have never done that in my life. It was that disgusting. Nor have I ever taken the time to write a bad review like this. The food was...
Read moreIf you're looking for the usual bar food scene/atmosphere, Zukey probably shouldn't be your first choice. If you're looking for an impressive menu and a wonderful, clean atmosphere with an all-round good experience, then you've found the diamond in the middle of Nowhere, Nowhere also called Lakeland-Hamburg-Pinckney-Hell.
They have amazing food with a large spread of options, while always clean, courteous and fair. I can't think of any real issues I've ever had at all, but if something isn't up to standard, there's no issue with a replacement that will probably be better than the original. Pre-Covid, they always had live entertainment every weekend. I think they may have it back now, but I'm not totally sure.
While you're there, take some time to check out the Zukey wall in the main dining area. It's the whole main floor room with pictures of people wearing a Zukey Lake Tavern shirt somewhere around the globe, posted on their walls. Very cool to see! There's also a few celebrities pictured with a Zukey shirt as well. If you want a shirt, they're reasonably priced, or you can get one for free on Wednesdays when you order a large pizza.
As for those pizzas, now I can't vouch for the whole world, since it's pretty big and I've only been to a handful of other countries, but I'm about 96.3% sure they have the BEST barbeque chicken pizza you can find for MANY miles in any direction. If you can't decide on an item, get the pizza. You won't regret it.
Lastly, they also have a lengthy drinks menu. All the normal/regulars for mixed cocktails and they usually (or at least on my visits) carry about 5+ locally sourced beers on tap. Bell's, New Holland, Short's, pretty sure they've also had Jolly Pumpkin before. Go check them out, you'll be pleased with...
