Lynon's Restaurant And Bar — Restaurant in Hamden

Went to Lynons this past Friday night. It was karaoke night which is always fun & there were actually a couple of people that sang very well; including the DJ. Lively energetic crowd & the food is very good and fresh.

However, after karaoke ended; the DJ amped it up with dance music. As I was almost done eating, I realized that an R. Kelly song was playing (step in the name of love)...needless to say; my stomach turned and I was quite shocked to hear one of his songs playing; particularly because a majority of the people there were black and they didn't seem to mind dancing to his music; considering he's been accused of being a sexual predator towards many black women recently and in the past. Now everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but my opinion is that we shouldn't uphold or support someone that time and time again has violated women; doing so equates to condoning the despicable behavior perpetrated by that person.

I know one of the owners is a woman & I wish she said something and hope she's more aware & considerate of the type of atmosphere she wants to promote. Hearing his music was disturbing and affected the rest of my evening. In addition, when I expressed to the person I was with that I couldn't believe they were playing his song, his response was; I still like his music. I didn't want to make a scene or become confrontational with my friend regarding his comment, so I got up & walked outside to take a break, regroup and wait until the song was finished. Later I let my friend know that his response was unacceptable; HELLO, haven't you heard about the "Times Up" campaign. It's not cool at all to uphold anyone who perpetuates sex offenses towards girls; women or anyone.

I joined a Birthday Party here over the weekend. The place is small but welcoming. Staff was very attentive and the young man bartending was very polite and made great cocktails. However, drink prices were a little steep. My drink which included a double of patron was $20. I'm unsure if that is comparable in this area. Our party had a buffet style serving of Baked Ziti, Wings and Salad. The plain wings were crispy and flavorful. I enjoyed those the most. The Ziti was just ok. It Was seasoned well but the pasta itself was just slightly overcooked for my taste. The place is set up like a restaurant so there is some seating at the bar with just a couple of pub style table tops along the wall. Majority are longer tables designed for parties. There was a DJ who played alot of older music. This place appears to be for a mature crowd of 40+. If you're looking for a mature place to enjoy a drink while listening to music or you're hosting a small event or party, you may enjoy this place. I would...

Slowest service ever. Unless your gonna stay for a few hours i don't recommend ordering food. Though the food is good. Ive been here serveral times and always food took 30 minutes or longer to be served this is a big complaint among their customers. The servers weren't the nicest.. though once i weren't and there was a very ocomidatiting young lady gave her fat tip. For a really good time at Lynons i recomend you eat before you go there. Last time i went staff was under age i had to get up and get my parties n my drinks. The Bar staff are the best . Nice vibe entertainment is always on point. They have great parking off street. It's also hard to find even with GPS. It sits back in the cut and the sign is small so if your not familiar with its location slow down...
