El Agave — Restaurant in Hamilton

This place has changed names and decor a few times over the last few years, and this is definitely the worst iteration of Mexican restaurant here.

We came in (group of about 8) around 4pm, and the place was not busy at all. We got our drinks and cheese dip ordered without much trouble, but 3 of us didn't get our food with everyone else, and after I was asked multiple times what was ordered, we finally got our last 2 entrees after everyone else had already eaten. Several of the entrees weren't very good, and the agave burrito I ordered was mushy and gross. Of course, by that time, I was unwilling to wait any longer, so I just left it on the plate.

The wait staff was constantly swinging by our table, but we had to practically beg for refills, bowls, silverware, and straws.

The portions were huge on almost everything we ordered, but the price/quality was way off. Over $50 for 2 mediocre entrees and 2 drinks.

This used to be our go-to spot when passing through Hamilton multiple times a year, but I think this will have to be the last time. No part of the experience...

Terrible experience. The food was not good at all from my wife’s soup to the chori dip everything had this weird, bland taste to it. My wife ordered the Chicken and rice soup and it was basically just chicken broth with hunks of chicken and the rice was on the side. I had ordered the street tacos with only Cheese, Chorizo and Steak on it and for some reason someone had the bright idea to put onions on it and I hate onions. I expressed multiple times that I only wanted cheese, chorizo and steak on my tacos where did the onions come from? And that reminds me of the salsa it tasted like onions probably because it had chunks of onions in it plus we had to eat it out of this one big bowl. The tea tasted like it wasn’t mixed right either. Just an all out bad experience and the price of everything was outrageous. My street tacos alone were $16.99 that is insane. I’m giving it one star for the waitress who was really nice and kept making sure we had everything we needed. Just save your time and money and go...

My father and I go pretty consistently once a week, and we have since they opened, and it's pretty good.

The food is always good, we get a large Mushroom Dip every time we go, if you like mushrooms and cheese dip them I recommend it. I generally get the Molcajete, but I've tried several different things and they've all been good. The staff is nice, some more than others, but they're all nice.

My only real complaint is that there have been a few times when they're just blasting music, through the TV facing the large dining room, but that's not every time, and after a bit I'm able to...
