My Greenmount Station Review ā The Good, The Bad and The Summary
We were in Hampstead and stopped at the Greenmount Station for lunch since we had heard a lot of positive reviews. We ordered the Fish & Chips and the Seafood Wrap.
The Good: The Fish & Chips was advertised as being hand battered cod with fresh cut French fries and homemade coleslaw and when it arrived this appeared to be true to their claim. The cod was very good and of an ample amount as were the French fries. The coleslaw was ok but a little too sour for my liking, but thatās a personal preference. However, I would recommend the Fish & Chips. The seafood wrap was served with potato chips and was ok but nothing my dining partner raved about or would specifically order again.
The Bad: The service was a bit slow but I will attribute that to the food being freshly prepared. My main complaint is about the atmosphere which I found to be loud and a bit on the cold side. I think that the overly cool dining area was due to every single ceiling fan being on, I had to put my jacket back on to get comfortable. We were seated at a booth and I found the booth seats to not be firm enough. So much so that I sunk down in to a point which made the table too high and not at the ideal eating position.
The Summary: The Greenmount Station is a cozy little restaurant in Hampstead that is liked and patronized by a lot of locals. The food was good but the dining area was not a pleasurable experience me, it was too loud and cold. I would go back again if I was in the area but I wouldnāt make a special trip. If you have not been to the Greenmount Station I recommend that you give them a try and form your own opinion based on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn 18 march 2018 at 430-5pm I Had the ABSOLUTELY the worse experince with carry out i have ever had anywhere. I can understand that they are busy. I can understand that they are one of the HOTTEST place to eat in the Hampstead area. I understand that in the 15yrs I lived out here they are expanding. Asking me to hold once is ok. Taking half my order then putting me on hold a second time is a little rude. But putting me on hold as I am about to finish my order is just beyond UNACCEPTABLE and UNCALLED for. That is rude and very disrespectful. I fully understand that this will Never get seen by the business. But that is no way to treat a paying customer that has been going to YOUR place of business for the last 15yrs. And even if you are beyond busy take the COMPLETE order then say it will be 45-hour. I also understand that you have kids and college students working there. Maybe they need to be taught some phone manners. This was just beyond rude and disrespectful and it will be a VERY long time before I or anyone else I know goes there. But then again who cares right? Since this is one of the HOTTEST place in hampstead I guess it ok to treat customers this way.
Edit: tge say before mother day...against my best wish. My wife xalled over there to order dinner and asked me pick it up. This time she w asnt put on hold and everything went smoothly. I still not happy with the place. Good was ok cream of crab was more potatoes then anything. Crab cake was a where was it?? Burger was good. But my wife loves the Rubin with extra meat. But unless she orders I don't think I would go back again. I think the days of sitting in the car with clients about logos and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWonderful dining experience, as always. Two crab cake meals, one buffalo chicken salad, and a classic burger...all made to perfection!! This particular evening, we had just laid my mother to rest and needed a good meal after such an emotional day. We were seated across for an older, elderly gentleman...seated in the next booth...all alone. I was missing my mother terribly and wondering if he was possibly feeling the same about another. I quietly asked our waitress to please bring us his bill at the end of the evening as we would like to pay for his meal. She happily obliged. She later informed us that he is normally there with an older lady by the name of Mary, who was unable to join him that evening as she had not been feeling well. They are typically there every evening for supper. We watched throughout the evening as multiple waitresses and wait staff came over to have a little chats with him. That was quite heartwarming to see that he had created this little family there and just how attentive they all truly are to not only this gentleman but to any and all their customers! It's the little extras.
At the end of the evening he walked over to thank us for our kindness and generosity. I asked him about his friend Miss Mary and if I could pray for her. He informed us that she had just had open heart surgery but was doing okay at the moment and welcomed the prayers. Not simply a random act of kindness but in fact possibly and most likely God speaking to our hearts. In that moment for me, God let me know that I could bring a little comfort and joy to someone else... even through my own grief. All we need to...
