I gave it one star due to the food and the customer service , my friend had an event here on February 16th and this would have been my first time attending. The event was dope as hell the atmosphere was nice the people in there was definitely a vibe the music was on point. BUT THE SERVICE lawwddd if I could use emojis it would be the hand on the forehand one ! First off this event was planned pior to the date and you mean to tell me the staff wasn’t better prepared the amount of people that would have been at this event like who was the organizer ? I got there at 2:30 the event was from 2p-5p by the time I got there the kitchen was CLOSED. I could not order food they was so behind on orders that the cook must have quit and they was looking for another one that’s what it seemed
I spent 3 hours at a place only drinking water and waiting for the kitchen to reopen and no (I don’t wanna buy liquor on a empty stomach ) , and when the people food at my table did come , the event was damn near OVER ! Some people had left because the food took so long so then there was fresh food just sitting on tables. The bartenders lawddd help the light skin one lord ! didn’t even know how to make certain drinks like who don’t know how to make a sangria out of all drinks just add wine, fruit and orange juice tf google it or something , I don’t know where they get the bartender from the alley (henny and coke ) type of bartender . Then she was mad ghetto like “No we ain’t got sangrias, ima ask Monica” she said ghetto and obnoxious, where they get these people from. It don’t matter how grand you spice up a place , if the people in it don’t know how to show good customer service all that other crap goes out the window. Also there was like only one server taking like 40 people orders poor baby and on top of that the bartender was working double shifts working the floor and bar. No body had food everybody had drinks lol. We was hungry and it was a Sunday and an early event so most people like me was expecting to eat sooner then later. I was so close to doordash me some wing stop to this restaurant it was the class in me that changed my mind. On the other hand , I would eat before I come to have a more better experience. Maybe these post won’t...
Read moreIt's always "us". While I have enjoyed the good food and atmosphere of this diamond in the rough of Hampton, I'd hate to see something so potentially AMAZING turn into just another "hood" restaurant due to the lack of boundaries, manners, and service etiquette displayed by the service staff. I was badgered to pay my bill for the appetizers I ordered and when I stated I would be ordering more food, I was badgered to order it as well. This resulted in a loss of that additional order. A couple walked in the door close to closing time and was greeted with the "we are about to close attitude " which happened synonymously with my experience. My $40 order was left at $9 due to the service I received. Not good. I understand the "special" hours of business until the traffic builds up, but if I'm going to be pressured to "hurry up and buy", because it's about to be 8 o' clock and there are 3 tables here enjoying themselves at what point am I going to feel welcomed to stay. Servers are the frontline of your establishment. Most people come out to dinner on the weekends at the time you're closing. This was just a bad look period. It's not a management issue it's a service issue. It's one that deserves immediate attention otherwise you are shooting yourself in the foot before you even start running.
Kudos to the proprietors of this ethnically owned establishment for executing the vision of this culturally diverse atmosphere. The reputation of this "little honeycomb hideout" lives up to the word on the street, however the catch game ain't the keep game when people need a job. I would hate to think that as a follower and supporter of this restaurant that I would have to be a celebrity or among the "who's who" to receive good service.
A very special SHOUT OUT to Ms. Tammy who displayed impeccable professionalism in rectifying my experience. Many happy returns George of Hampton. Blessings and great prosperity in this business and everyone who came together to make...
Read moreWe visited George's Restaurant July 13. 2024 for my sister's 55th Birthday. My sister's coworker recommended George's to her. She said it is a nice place to unwind and have great food and listen to good music. To our surprise we had neither it was seven of us we order drinks all of our drinks tasted like lemon juice. We informed the waitresses about our drinks she never offered to remake them or replace them. The Philly cheesesteak egg rolls were greasy and slightly overcooked. My husband ordered a burger well done which still had pink in it. The wings were the worst I ever had , I have had some bad wings in my lifetime by far these were the worse. We ordered lemon pepper parmasean and barbecue wings. My husband ordered 1942 don Julio and the waitress gave him DonJulio Blanco. He questioned the waitress the drink he ordered did not taste like 1942 don Julio she looked at him with a blank stare like damn how did he now that's a shame a black business trying to get over on there own kind.. I truly belive in supporting black business but this leaves a bad taste in my mouth of the bad service we were offered.. The shameful thing when it's six or more people they add gratuity. This young lady received over $50 tip from our table for bad service we didn't make a fuss due to it being a special occasion I didn't want to ruin my Sister's birthday even more .We made the best out of it.Sorry to say we will never be back. The building is old needs some TLC the inside is less to be desired the one thing I can say they have great advertising on line because they made the establishment look nice, great menu and offer cigar lounge I'm still looking for it! Needless to say our experience was not nice...
