I missed knowing of this delightful, Hampton, MN, family-owned restaurant near me for years. I learned it has been there since 1960!!! The menu switches up to fit the season; it means you can always come back and try something new.
The chef knows how to turn out a 5-star pancake, nicely dusted with powdered sugar and of elephant-size. Add some fruit toppings and it’s like dessert. I recommend their breakfast of hash browns, bacon and scrambled eggs with a generous helping of cheese. The Italian Sausage Omelet with vegetables was excellent and perfect prepared.
Their pies are perfectly paired with coffee. We like the apple, pumpkin, pecan, blueberry and strawberry rhubarb. If you love pecan rolls or caramel rolls – theirs is excellent.
Our waitress was very attentive and professional. The prices are super reasonable, especially for the portion sizes. Easily two people can share an entree.
They have a Facebook page where you can view the update menu options. Its high signage is near the building and easily visible from US-52. I missed it a few times trying to learn where to turn in. Just take the Hampton exit, go onto the frontage road and turn to visit the restaurant.
There is ample parking, and it is easy to get to. For travelers to and from the Twin Cities to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, this is an ideal mid-way point to grab a bite of food for breakfast. It’s located just off of Highway 52 and 50 headed to Red Wing, on the...

From the minute we sat down the place reminded me of a run down, dirty, rude staff hole in the wall. Our waitress today spilled and slammed down every drink we got, refills were non existing. I asked for no onions and got more than I'm sure was actually normal. My husband asked to substitute for a side salad with 2 types of dressings. It took 3 explanations for her to grasp the request and then his food came out, no salad but the dressing arrived. He didn't want white bread but got it anyhow. I went to the bathroom but stopped by a worker sweeping and talking to our waitress who was sitting down. I was told there was someone in the bathroom so I was going to wait until the sweeper lady rudely said "and there's a line" while pointing at herself and our waitress. So I waited until I got home. We over heard the staff in the kitchen squirming about the amount of ants all over everything as well. Pretty disappointed in the new millennials and the customer service they lack. It will take a lot for me to go back and trust we will be waited on with respect like...
