When you pull into the parking lot of Coffee Can, the first thing you notice is it's unique architecture. The building is made out of old shipping containers. On my first visit I ordered a vanilla latte with a Caesar salad and a Can Cuban, their version of a Cuban sandwich. The latte was very good and more in the style of an authentic espresso based beverage and not overly sweet. The Caesar salad was good with fresh romaine lettuce, plenty of Caesar salad dressing on the side, and nice, crunchy croutons. In all honesty, the Cuban sandwich was so-so. In my opinion, the sandwich has two issues. First, there are two different styles of Cuban sandwich. Both have ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard. Where they differ is one variety adds roast or pulled pork and the other adds salami. The pulled pork version is much more flavorful and adds fresher meat to the sandwich. The salami version is just more processed meat which is basically just a glorified lunch meat sandwich. The Can Cuban is the salami version which is inferior to the pulled pork variety. The second issue is the menu states a generous amount of yellow mustard. In fact, too generous. There is so much mustard it overwhelms the other ingredients. This has a simple solution. Put less mustard on the sandwich and put additional mustard on the side or put no mustard on and put it on the side thus allowing the diner to customize the sandwich to his own taste. Now mind you this is just one sandwich. The others could be outstanding so I wouldn't let one instance discourage anyone from trying the Cuban...
Read moreThe idea is awesome. The decor is welcoming. The coffee is meh, The service is absolutely terrible. The staff is always super nice but Dont trust when they say on the intercom “ill be right with you” they never come back. The drive through takes 20 min and thats an average and being conservative. Few times I have had to pass the speaker and or walk inside to get service. I live in town and its so upsetting to be a coffee lover and have this place so close only to want to drive 10 miles to black maple or dunkin due to the service. Kids dont need to be unattended when it comes to adults and their coffee. Im mad at myself for constantly giving this place a try. Shame on me.
Updated: Thank you for the reply, In response to your reply, this is not a one off. This has been an issue since opening. I have zero problem with a business being short staffed if the expectations are set as “Just to inform you we are short staffed “yada yada. Instead of waiting 20 minutes to hear you are short staffed. This review isnt from 1 visit. Its due to multiple which again, some might ask “why keep going back”, well, its across the street! And maybe it improved since last visit. I am extremely forgiving as I also work in the service industry, however its just upsetting that I really want to love this place and support something local but its just not worth it. I wish...
Read moreThis place has the cutest decor and the atmosphere is great. We came in, ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches, a coffee and a water. We went upstairs to wait. We were not given our drinks. After 30 minutes we went down to check on our food, and the girl looked like a deer in the headlights. No apology, she just said that they are busy (they weren't) and have to take care of the customers in the drive thru. Still no drinks. We went back upstairs and waited another 15 minutes. The few people who were around us all had their drinks and food. At this point, it had been 45 minutes of waiting. So we went back down to ask for a refund. The same girl (Natalie) was completely confused, as if she had no idea why we were upset. Again, no apology or anything. She spent at least 5 minutes scrolling through orders trying to find our receipt (thank goodness we had it texted to us!), and asked us probably 6 times what we ordered! Then she completely walked away from us to tend to an unhappy customer in the drive thru who was missing part of their order. So we waited another 5 minutes for that. Then she got very pouty that she was going to have to call her boss to give a refund. Anyway, we spent a total of 1 hour there and never got any food or...
