Wow, this place has really good stuff! I finally got a date with this “classy” lady I had been pursuing, and I wanted to impress her with my distinguished taste, but I didn’t know where to go, but then I remember passing by this place often and thought Colombian food would be exotic and it did not disappoint. As soon as we walked in, I felt like I was back in Bogota which is funny because I was never visited Colombia, but the ambience was that authentic and that is very important. We had the Pandebono (cheese bread for all the gringos) as an appetizer, and it was better than the ones at the Brazilian restaurants. For the main dish I was steered towards the Columbian Picada, by the server, in which I was able to sample various items like cassava which was very good, but not as good as the meats like steak, chicken, sausage, and pork belly? Who can go wrong with this lineup? My date with her “nose in the air” attitude, had the Fried Tilapia in which I was able to try and that was good too. She even enjoyed it, which was surprising because she was not easily impressed by much which I had the unique pleasure to learn through our dinner conversation such as the color of my shirt that I wore. But back to my story………… For sides, I had the frijoles which I am a fan of and was skeptical about at first because I grew up on frijoles, but Colombian’s know how to get down with the beans. Miss “classy” if you are interested, had the sweet plantains which I was able to sample from her plate, had such a mellow flavor. She even liked it, which made me feel like I was doing at least something right for the first time that evening by choosing this establishment. For dessert I went with the Breva con Areuipe y Queso, man it was indescribable, but I assure that you will not be disappointed. Miss too good for me went with the Roscon de Guayaba which I only got a tiny piece of and will have to try that next time. Can you believe it? She actually liked that too. The Pony Malta is really good, you really got to try it, that’s all I can say. Well, I eventually decided that my prima-donna was just basic donna after all, and although I cannot wait to try the other entrees at Carbon Express, I will not be accompanied by Ms. Diva and her snotty attitude. But, I got a new Go-To...
Read moreIt’s so nice to see a Colombian restaurant open in the suburbs!!
Food: We ordered the chicken and beef empanadas, chorizo y arepa and papa rellena. Everything was delicious.
I’m pretty picky when it comes to my arepas and I loved how soft, moist and tasteful the arepa was. The papa rellena was also incredible plus the sauce that came with it. Empanadas were crunchy and delicious.
They have some of the items ready at the hot bar, so it’s very convenient if you are looking for something on the go. I called in advance and the woman that answered the phone was very polite and started getting my order ready.
In Colombia when you go to any restaurant they have finger food available for your convenience, so I definitely felt the Colombian authenticity!
Location: The restaurant is located in a new and well kept plaza. The signage made it very easy to locate and there was plenty of parking.
The establishment was very clean and welcoming. I always appreciate a restaurant that is well maintained.
I truly believe that whenever you embark on a new journey it takes time to perfect. This restaurant is obviously a newer establishment and some of the reviews seemed a bit harsh. I like to form my own opinion and I’m happy I did because now I know where I can find some great...

As for the food, you won't be disappointed. I had the bandeja paisa every single time because I can't get enough, it is absolutely incredible. The dish consisted of rice, beans, steak, pork rind, avocado, plantains, and a fried egg - all served on one hearty platter. The portions were generous, so come with an appetite! Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic...
