-UPDATE 2- They have updated their response to gaslight me. Hire a PR team, for your lousy response.
-UPDATE - As you can see by their response, this restaurant comes across with poor taste. Rather than taking accountability for their mistake, they went ahead and denied all responsibilities made in this review and doubled down on their irreparable behavior, stating it's "irrelevant." Saying that I spelled the name wrong is not a valid response for poor management. You're right, your website does NOW say "Dine-In Only," but did it say that when I posted this review? Because if I recall from our phone conversation, you didn't even know where to find it on your website, stating that online menus and even pictures of the menu from 4 weeks ago from Google are not reputable sources. DO BETTER.
WARNING TO FUTURE CUSTOMERS - I have ordered take out here from Savory's multiple times. I have ordered the Reuben sandwich to go on numerous occasions and as stated on their menu, it comes with a homemade soup. Throughout the multiple times I have ordered a Reuben sandwich for take out, I have been given a soup alongside it.
On August 28th, my partner ordered a Reuben and a BLT sandwich and was denied a soup, as the manager stated that the menu has changed. When asked when the menu had changed, she told my partner that it changed in March, yet I had been given a soup on all of my take out orders since the menu changed. She then told me and my partner that if we wanted soup for our take out order, it was going to be an additional charge! The manager's reasoning is that due to inflation and because it would mean adding a container, utensils, and crackers, that it justifies an additional cost for take out. How does this make sense?
The manager's other reasoning is that soup is only offered during dine in. This isn't stated anywhere, whether it be on the physical menu, or on an online menu. What's even more concerning is that the prices for the sandwiches are still the same price as when you dine in, even though you are losing part of your meal! This is absolutely foul restaurant management.
When the manager asked for my phone number, trying to prove that I had accidentally purchased soup on all of my take out orders, she was silent when she saw that I was given 2 soups for my 2 sandwiches, that I ordered for takeout on August 10th! But the manager still stuck to her word that the menu had changed since March and that whoever had prepared my order had given me 2 soups on accident and that they didn't know better, because she only has new employees on Saturday. What kind of coping/justification is that? If you have my phone number to track my order, why not admit your fault, give me the soups for my order and make a note on my phone number/profile that "this person has been made aware that soups are not part of future take out orders."
When I asked the manager what the difference would be if I were to sit down for dine in and just order my food to go, and she had no answer! She sat on the phone dumb founded that this could be a possible situation and she may have to lie again. After asking her this question, she responded with "I'm not going to sit here and argue with you," because you're losing the argument! You're purposefully misleading customers into thinking that they're getting the entire meal, but realistically, you're removing part of their meal and charging them the same price! And you add that part of the meal that you took out for an additional cost!
This is terrible management from this restaurant. I advise all customers to question the staff on what they're ordering from now on, as you may be paying more for a meal that is only 3/4 finished. Inflation and the usage of plastic utensils, a plastic soup container, and a little 20 cent packet of crackers should not be the key deciding factor for not including my soup in the order. Either lower the price for take out sandwiches or make it known on all of your menus that take out orders will not include any additional sides that you would get if...
ย ย ย Read moreSo nice, we went twice! A large group of us were in town for some touristy activities and stopped here before hopping on the train to Chicago. First day, it was pretty dead and service was great. We had standard breakfast fare, food was great served promptly, and service was friendly and attentive. The next day, we decided to come back on our way to the airport to go back home. Again, we were a large group (with a baby) and the restaurant was almost full this time. We informed the hostess that we were on a time crunch to catch a plane and they accommodated as much as they could given the amount of customers already seated. We were seated quickly and our orders taken (same breakfast fare with some minor additions as we had one extra person with us this time). Some minor issues: We were in need of some supplies (napkins, syrup ect.), one order of soup never arrived, and we had to wait quite a while for the baby's OJ because our waiter seemed to disappear at times. We saw several cups flowing out to other tables, so we stopped another staff member to ask for it. Towards the end of our meal, we asked the waiter if we could pay from our seat so we could just get up and go. He informed us that usually payment takes place with the cashier at the front, but he would take care of it for us. So to recap: Great food. Great service on slow days, a little dip when it's busy, but that's to be expected. Price is right, place is clean. Would...
