Pita BBQ is nothing short of a Mediterranean miracle—an oasis of sizzling flavor and generous hospitality in a world where portion sizes are shrinking and taste often takes a back seat. From the first moment you open your takeout box or step into the restaurant, the aroma alone is enough to make your heart skip a beat. Smoky, savory, spiced perfection fills the air as the shawarma turns slowly on its spit, glistening like edible gold under the warm lights.
The beef shawarma is a masterpiece of balance and indulgence—tender, marinated strips of beef grilled to the edge of caramelization, each bite bursting with bold spices and that unmistakable Mediterranean tang. The texture is perfect: juicy, flavorful, and never dry. When wrapped in warm, pillowy pita bread with a drizzle of creamy garlic sauce and crisp vegetables, it becomes the kind of meal that makes you momentarily forget the rest of the world.
Then there’s the chicken shawarma—bright, fragrant, and irresistibly juicy. The seasoning dances between smoky and citrusy, each bite delivering a burst of warmth that reminds you why Mediterranean cooking is one of the world’s great culinary traditions. Together, the beef and chicken create a dynamic duo of flavor—a perfect balance of richness and zest.
But what truly sets Pita BBQ apart is generosity. This place doesn’t play around when it comes to portions. Where other restaurants (looking at you, Chipotle) might give you three sad strips of meat and a shrug, Pita BBQ loads your plate like they’re feeding royalty. The meat-to-rice ratio is gloriously unapologetic—mountains of perfectly grilled protein sitting atop fragrant rice or tucked into a pita wrap that can barely contain the abundance.
And everything—everything—tastes fresh. The hummus is creamy and silky, the garlic sauce is punchy but balanced, and the pickles and salads add just the right amount of brightness. It’s clear that the people behind Pita BBQ care about quality, not just quantity.
Every visit feels like a feast, a celebration of flavor, generosity, and heart. Pita BBQ doesn’t just serve Mediterranean food—it serves joy, wrapped in pita and dripping with deliciousness. In a world full of fast-casual shortcuts, Pita BBQ is the real deal: bold, authentic, and downright...
Read moreI cannot say enough nice things about this establishment. We frequent the South Elgin location and finally had a chance to visit Streamwood for the first time this evening.
I was particularly excited to try the wings, and they did not disappoint! We decided to try three flavors and went with the honey BBQ, lemon pepper Parmesan, and the tikka masala.
I’ll start off by saying these wings are quite big, noticeably larger than your average size. They were hot, fresh, and all three flavors were outstanding.
We also tried an order of the tikka masala fries which were superb, especially if you like a spicy kick.
The staff were amazing. Jackie was very friendly and accommodating between ringing us up and personally delivering our food to the table. A member of the kitchen staff (unfortunately I did not catch his name) even came out to check on us and ensure we were enjoying our meal.
We will definitely be back soon. Thank you to the team at Pita BBQ for always providing the best...
Read moreI decided to give this place a try for lunch. I went in around 1230 on a Wednesday afternoon. There is ample parking since it's a strip mall. I went inside and there was 1 person eating, 1 person ordering, and about a group of 5 teens eating outside on the picnic table. I ordered a gyro and a chicken shawarma, I was told by the friendly gentlemen taking myborde it would be about 10 minutes, my order was ready after 7 minutes. First I ate the gyro, it was seasoned well and had a large amount of meat, it was good. Then I ate the shawarma, it was seasoned well and the flavor was very pleasing. My only issue was that some pieces of the chicken were just hard shards of chicken so I spit them out. If it wasn't for those shards, it would've been a delightful shawarma. All in all, I would eat here again though, the flavors of the dishes were spot on. But I'll probably go with the...
