Santa Fe Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Hanover Township

Went there one time, crowded and definitely mostly from the drinking crowd. Ordered tacos, chicken. They were very good. Went back a month later. My husband and I both ordered steak Fajitas for two The meat was entirely gritty, disgustingly fatty, and very hard so you could not chew it. We tried to cut around all the grit and fat, which left no steak. We called the waitress over, who laughed and said she saw us discreetly spitting some of it in our napkin and she apologized. Said she wanted to get the manager. She said it was unacceptable. She also said she could see all the fat when bringing it out. Five minutes later a man came out saying he was the manager. We showed him all the steak left in the plate/bowl they serve it in. We started cutting all the grit out from the steak pieces. He said he could bring us out chicken or vegetables, but if he brought more steak it would be the same. We told him we were not looking for chicken or veggies, or a free meal. Just actual steak that you could chew. He said they’ve gotten numerous complaints over the months and do nothing about it regarding the quality of the meat there. He was very nice and apologetic. We packed up and left, leaving our waitress a good tip because it was not her fault and she was empathetic for sure! On our way out. the people at the table next to us said they’ve been going there for a long time and only get the same dish each time because the meat there is not good. They get the veggie tacos. They also said, they mostly enjoy the margaritas. If you’re going there to have some good drinks and a crowd, you will love it. If you’re going there for anything involving beef/steak-go elsewhere! Another reviewer mentioned that their desert of the fried ice cream 'wasn't legit'. I'm not sure what 'legit' is, but it is damn good! I've' had it at L.A. Cafe' and (the former) Chi- Chi's (which was the best) and this is comparable...and the serving size? Aye chihuahua! huge! Lunchtime fair offers smaller portions but same great taste! I had the taco dinner for my first visit as well as the lunchtime chimichanga plate. Great value dining experience. My friends in attendance felt the same. Bring your bathing suits because I saw a Margarita at one of the neighbouring tables that you could have done a high dive into! Mine wasn't as large, but it was delicious! The only thing that kept me from giving Santa Fe a 5 star rating is that because I'm NOT a double-dipper ('Seinfeld'), I would much prefer my own bowl of salsa for the chips. Ambiance was great and very spacious!

Nice place, clean. Friendly staff. Raquel is the best! Appetizers are flavorful and definitely worth trying. Chimichanga's are also great. Oddly the chicken chimichanga only had chicken in it? Everything else was on the side. Overall ok mexican food and will definitely be back to try the drinks next time :)

*Fall 2024 update, been coming here since they opened and if it wasn't for a few of the best employees around we would never go back. New menu and of course higher prices now. Nickel and Dime you on small things,*salsa and Extremely Misleading advertisement (posted drink specials) and said it was not for the day,. Instead of honoring it they modified the sign for several couples there. Very Shady, dishonest owners. Wow. I would suggest grab a margarita and eat elsewhere...

Burgers are frozen, just fyi... food is fair, just be aware, no specials and there are better places...
