Okay bar to shoot a game of pool, but don't go expecting any sort of good food. I'm baffled by the number of positive reviews for this place after our experience. Perhaps it had something to do with it being a Sunday evening when we visited, or perhaps it was because our waitress was only on her 4th day and struggling, or maybe it's the college kids that have ruined any chance of it being anything but a bar, but after driving past this place every day for months and wondering how it was, we were sorely disappointed when we finally decided to give it a shot this past Sunday evening. We tend to eat out a good bit when we have days off and have been to more or less every restaurant in the area, so we were excited to give this one a try. I've worked in hospitality management for many years and totally understand that stuff happens from time to time. We all understood in advance that it was a small pub/restaurant/bar and wasn't an Olive Garden or anything, so we didn't go in expecting it to be fancy. We went simply looking to find some tasty bar food (burgers, tacos, etc) and acceptable service. Easy group to impress. There four or five people sitting at the bar drinking when we walked in and we were the only people in the place who were sitting at a booth while we were there, so definitely not too busy. After we placed our orders, we went and shot two rounds of pool and then went out to smoke a cigarette on the back patio while we were still waiting for our meals to come out. Yes, we had more than enough time to do all of this before our food was eventually served! When the bartender popped his head outside and let us know our food was ready, we were a little surprised when we walked back in and found that the lights over our booth had been turned off before we'd stepped back inside to go eat. This seemed really strange as we all sat back down at our now dark table to eat our meals, but okay...whatever. We quickly learned that this was likely an attempt to hide what they'd served us, though it would take more than turning off the lights to keep us from discovering that the food was not good. The dozen wings we'd ordered to share after being told they were the "special" were tasteless, literally had no seasoning or flavor beyond the grease they'd been fried in. I don't recall us ever having left chicken wings behind at a restaurant in the past, but we ate maybe five out of the twelve we'd ordered and left the rest they were so bad.The french fries were the best part of our entrees, no lie. My buddy's turkey reuben was soggy and not tasty. He ate maybe half of it and left the rest behind. I had ordered chicken soft tacos, which clearly had been left under a heat lamp for way too long, as the tortillas were hard and crusty. There was no cheese or lettuce at all on my tacos, nor any sort of taco sauce or sour cream or anything else provided that might have helped jazz up the flavor enough to overcome the lonely, tasteless, dry chunks of pan fried chicken in my tacos. I politely asked the waitress if they were supposed to have come with cheese, lettuce, or sauce or anything, since I was pretty sure that the menu had mentioned it. Thinking that it was no big deal, she was new to her job and surely she would fix it when she realized someone had forgotten to top the tacos before she served them. She said she didn't think so without even bothering to look at the menu to double check, nor did she even just bring out a little cup of cheese or sauce like one would normally expect after having mentioned it kindly to her. I choked down one of my dry tacos and trashed the rest. To make things even worse, in the hour or so we were there, none of our drinks (all of us had tea, not mixed drinks or anything) were refreshed even once, nor had any offer to do so come before we eventually just paid our $65 tab and walked out. Overall, very disappointing. I live just up the road and was hoping we had found a spot nearby that we could go to for a quick burger or meal after work or on our days off occasionally, but this was definitely...

I've been here twice. First time to watch an NFL game. I ordered the fried mushrooms like I do at R Bar and Grill. They were not good, I don't know if it was the mushrooms or the ranch dressing. My bill was $75.00 (including drinks) with tip and the same order cost me $47.00 at R Bar and Grill. I said that I wouldn't come back. New Years Eve 2024 and I decide to give it another try. I had the Nachos Supreme, they were OK. I ate half of them... at least it filled my belly. The worst was the DJ. He played music that he liked. He did not play for the crowd. I said something to him about playing whole songs without over dubbing them and he took offense to my suggestion. He said that he was playing to a diverse cultural crowd and with his mic in hand announced for me to get away. I told him that if he played whole songs and for the crowd more people would dance. I watched countless groups of people leave this venue because of him. The girls were dressed to dance but the DJ fell short. Tonight was NYE and the bar was sparce except for the group of 10 people that came in at the last minute. They lost hundreds of dollars in revenue because the DJ ran them off. This was the 2nd worst NYE for me. The 1st was right before my husband and I decided to divorce. All of my other NYE's have...

Another installment of our monthly lunch date, we decided on Tailgators. We arrived shortly before 12 and I was concerned that maybe they weren't open, no cars, no lights visible, but they were! We sat at the bar, and we're greeted right away. I have to say, while we were there, 1 bartender kept busy cleaning the chair rail and ledges around the restaurant. We decided to split the gumbo and the rueben with fries. They arrived in short order, although we requested the sauce on the side, it didn't come that way, but it was OK as there was a nice amount on the sandwich. The gumbo went uneaten. We tried it, but it didn't taste right. The rueben was good. It wasn't hot, but there was plenty of meat and cheese, a good amount of sour krout, and nobody asked me, but a rueben is best with pumpernickel bread. I have to say, we actually got a table visit (at the bar!) by the manager, Aaron (sp?). I was impressed. He asked if the gumbo was ok and I didn't complain. I told him everything was great. I'm a rueben expert, but not a gumbo expert, so I wasn't going to complain about a food item I don't have a lot of experience with!! All in all, the place was clean and the prices are low. The menu we saw, is limited. I'd get a...

This is definitely a local spot. The atmosphere is what you make it, and the crowd is diverse. I've been here twice, once for dine in and the other for take out. My dine in experience was great. The staff is friendly and efficient. The food was great. We had the Terminator burger, Mac n cheese bites, an shrimp quesadilla. Everything was great! Really enjoyed the drinks!!! They have pool tables for a fee and a outside dining patio. Nice bar! My first takeout experience wasn't so great. Seems like I was overcharged on everything to cover a $10 tip. My quesadilla wasn't as good an was overrun with bell peppers and onions. An once again, they were out of gator bites. They made up for it the 2nd time tho. Everything was on point, including my quesadilla, an they finally had gator bites. The dipping sauce was nice and spicy for it too. It was great. Its a nice place to try, just watch your bill!!🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

February 7th 2025 update—the BG Tailgators wrap is like a chopped steak “Big Mac” style wrap with fresh lettuce tomato onion and special sauce toasted. Thank you Kelly for your creativity this should be a permanent item! Delicious fresh quality food that’s reasonable in great friendly atmosphere. If you have not had the pleasure of finding Tailgators you’re missing out!!! Best pool tables in the region! They have great nightly home cooking specials. The food is always hot and fresh. But the Reuben is the best in the country! I have had Reuben sandwiches all over the country and at least a dozen at Tailgators! It is consistently excellent with the right mix of sauerkraut beef cheese and thousand island dressing. The fries, tator tots, or Onion rings are all great choices. Great food at reasonable prices.
