I've been living locally for years, as far as the distance between my home & Rose 32, but hadn't tried it before, though I had wanted to, so I finally stopped in the other day. I heard that they were very good, but a little on the expensive side. I went on a weekend, it was a bit busy, but not overly crowded. I couldn't decide what to order, because everything looked so delicious! I ended up getting a slice of almond cake, as well as a chocolate tea cake & small bag of peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. The almond cake was great, full of flavor, moist & not too sweet. The chocolate tea cake was rich & delightful, with just the right amount of sweetness as well, without being too sugary. I can't give my opinion on the cookies, as my fiance & children ate them, but they did like them also. For the items I purchased, it cost close to $11, which wasn't the cheapest, but not unreasonably expensive. Quality was definitely good. Friendliness of staff was also a plus. The only thing that was unfamiliar to me, was having to visit the bakery one customer at a time (all they currently allow, most likely due to the pandemic) then you give your name & wait outside for someone to bring out your order. For me, I only got pastries that were already made, so the wait was about a minute or two. Though I imagine if you have a larger order, or are getting something that must be cooked, such as a sandwich, it may be more lengthy of a wait. I was impressed with this bakery & will certainly be back again. I should also add that calling ahead to place orders is an option here, as a gentleman in line had told me. Other items that looked appealing to me were the mocha cheesecake & black bottom cupcakes. Can't wait to try some more goodies from Rose 32! If you're in the Hardwick area, you should...

Out for a drive around Quabbin Reservior on a rainy Saturday in August brought us to Rose 32 Bread, a delightful bakery/cafe in Gilbertville. We had just recently eaten lunch, so we didn't sit at a table to eat. But I'd checked their website and their Local Loaf of bread, as they call it, caught my attention, as well as those wonderful croissants that my friend, Don P had raved about. I had to sample both. I tried the bread as soon as we got back in my truck to leave. It's described on the website as being made from 2 kinds of wheat grown by, and milled at Four Star Farms in Northfield, MA. The bread has a flavor reminiscent of a great sourdough bread, with a wonderfully chewy crust. I eat it as a dessert, with just sweet cream butter. Next time I come, I'll try their "Gilbertville Loaf", made from wheat grown in this little town of 2990 people, and ground to flour right in this bakery. It couldn't get any better or fresher than that. The croissants lived up to their advance billing. They were soft and buttery inside, slightly chewy outside. I'm not well versed in croissant "language", but these were everything our fellow Yelper claimed them to be. Another shout out to you, Don, for making me aware of this bakery that I've so often driven by in the past. It's a wonderful cafe, a true "hidden gem", in every sense of the phrase, in a very small town, where you'd not expect this level of quality. I'll...

I called this past Friday morning at 8:00 - too late to order some goodies to pick up at noon on our way out of town. We were hoping to grab some on our way from Worcester to NY for a long weekend. The owner, Cindy, was apologetic as she explained orders needed to have been placed the day before. I told her I understood and thanked her anyway. An hour later, she called and left a message telling me that there were some extras available and she would be able to set some aside for me. I didn’t get the message until an hour later. I called her back, and she packed a box over the phone for me. Me, asking her about what was left in the case, and her describing and recommending what was available. I ended up ordering an assortment along with an extra loaf of the potato rosemary bread which was DELICIOUS. I was SO impressed with and appreciative of Cindy’s willingness to call me back and working to help us make our weekend just that much better! Rose 32 is the BEST, as are the people who...

I'm probably not going to say anything that hasn't already been said. Rose 32 is amazing in every way. Yes if you arrive after 11am on any given day they are open you WILL be waiting upwards of one hour before you get your food. It's only because it is so popular. I wouldn't recommend coming to this place to set up shop and get work done. This is a place to sit, enjoy some great food and unplug from the world. WiFi is available but it doesn't add to the experience of Rose 32. Order some food and make sure you go home with some pasties and bread. You won't ever regret visiting this place. Even a regular coffee is perfect!

What an amazing find in the middle of Gilbertville was Rose 32 Bread. We had squash soup, shared a Turkey BLT on cranberry bread and had dessert that was all to die for. It's only about 100 minutes away! Advice:. GET THERE ASAP! Hardwick is a pleasant community of a couple thousand, recovering from the loss of jobs in the 1960's. We saw a beautifully restored stone church and covered bridge along a still active freight RR right along a river. We met four locals that couldn't have been nicer and gave great advice.
