Olluco Bistro — Restaurant in Hardyston Township

The food here is authentic and delicious! We just discovered this place about a month ago and ordered dinner 4 times. We also had our sons HS graduation party last weekend & ordered a tray of their peruvian chicken, which is only on the catering menu. And their Anticuchos steak skewers which is on both menus. Both of these were a hit with everyone. Honestly, even when you order catering from a restaurant you like, it's easy to overcook meat like this because of the sheer volume you're preparing at one time, plus trying to keep it warm. We picked up the trays at 130pm for guests arriving at 2pm. Everything was still warm and the food was delicious. The chicken was sooooooo damn flavor packed. And the steak was tender and delicious! There is not a cook here, but an honest to goodness professional chef who loves what he does and you can taste it in the food. This place is new and I wish them the best! I am worried because their location doesn't seem to have had any luck. I live about 15 minutes away and this location has had about 8 different restaurants come in and then close down shortly after, in the last 5 years. They have Peruvian cuisine on the menu amongst a bunch of other items & I point out the Peruvian aspect because I know there's not a big Peruvian presence in this area, but even if you've never tried Peruvian food before, give this place a shot!! Great food is great food no matter where it comes from. Great food comes from this place!! *Edit I forgot to mention in my original post that we have previously tried the fried chicken, the smoked wings, the brisket, the chicken BLT sandwich, the burger and the steak-WHOA!! Everything is just awesome! Flavor packed without being salty, fresh & delicious! There is nothing like this place anywhere close up here in Sussex...

Ok, so I’ve been meaning to write a review for a while-over the holidays my family (with one who is not from the area) ordered take-out from here and absolutely loved it. So much so that we collectively decided we needed to leave a 5 star review. Pop over to this week when my boyfriend and I ordered from here again, and I have even more to review. So, already consider this two-5 star reviews.

While this is not your typical dine in restaurant, all the food here is made with love and passion. I don’t think we’ve gotten one bad item off the menu, so no need to pick favorites!

While I was being rung up this most recent occasion, I asked if they had any desserts which, to my surprise, they did! Note that dessert (as of my review) is not featured on the menu. BUT, make sure to ask if they have anything when you order. The chef creates new items frequently, so you may not get what was offered last time. I got a beautiful (and tasty) flan-and I’m letting Maggie know now that I loved it :)

So my husband and I stumbled upon this place through a Facebook forum that was making suggestions about local Mexican restaurants. The venue was Peruvian-owned with a flare of local Peruvian favorites but also included bits of other iconic Spanish dishes! Think of Latin fusion with a flare of modern American! To begin i had the Anticuchos Steak skewers. Oh my, how tender and full of indigenous flavors! My husband ordered the chef's special Smoked brisket sandwich, which yields a brioche bun of smoked brisket, special slaw, crispy fried onion, and house-made BBQ sauce! Lastly, my daughter indulged in a classic Cuban-style sandwich, as you know is either a hit or miss but Olluco Bistro knocked it out of the park with a flavor powerhouse of a sandwich!
