I ordered a medium stew peas and rice. I asked for no dumplings or any sides. I just wanted stew and small pieces of pigs tail. First of all there's always a abundance of rice but never enough stew. I had to asked again for more stew. The lady who brought out my food was not very happy and said that was there was no more stew. There was another lady there that said that there was more stew if that was all I wanted. The presentation was sloppy with stew leaking out of the package and she did not wipe it. I asked her to put a piece of foil under it,because I had to travel far home. I asked her if she did and she said yes. When I got home the bag had soak, because no foil was applied under the package. The taste was very unusual almost like it had lemon or some unfavorable seasons. I usually don't order out Jamaican food because it's almost (99%) difficult to get good tasting REAL JAMAICAN FOOD. I grew up with real excellent healthy prepared food and know how to cook authentic Jamaican food. But because I am recovering medically I said let me travel out of state for some Jamaican food. What a big, big and big disappointment. If anyone knows me I really can't describe how upset I am when I spend a few cents short of $17.00 for disgusting food. I was first introduced to Destiny Awaits late Friday night after a concert in Hartford. A friend of mine recommend it after another place we went to had closed. I had never eaten there before and it was conveniently still open so we went. I could already tell from the smells coming through the door that the food was going to be amazing. The fact that there was a line of people even at almost 2:00 a.m. also confirmed that the food was going to be good. I ordered a large jerk chicken meal which came with rice and peas and a large jerk pork Meal with rice and peas. It was without a doubt some of the most flavorful, tender, delicious and well seasoned Jamaican food I have ever eaten. For $15 the portion size that I got was enough to make two complete separate meals out of (possibly three if you're not that big of an eater). I could not have been happier with my experience. This is a walk in place to get your food.... But the food is plentiful and great... I originally went in there to get pepper steak for my sister... The young lady behind the counter told me you would not be ready for 10 minutes... So I opted for the curry chicken if it was me personally I would have got the curry goat or the oxtail.... The young lady offered veg right away and the small was about the size of a Chinese takeout container so really not a small it only cost$9 friendly staff quick service very quaint entrance I cannot comment on the food because I did not order any for myself because it was Sunday after church and we have food at home...
