Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Hartselle

Called two days in advance for a college graduation event for my daughter. Ordered and ice cream cake. Nothing fancy just “Congratulations Alex”. Went to pick up cake at 10:30a for event to start at 11a. What I got was “congrations Alex”. Now what do you do? 30 minutes before everyone to arrive? Do you have a heated conversation with the poor lady who is only taking the money? What if she is the one who did the cake and did the best she could do? Maybe she did not graduate herself? So I waited till Monday morning to call the owner of Dairy Queen in Hartselle to just let him know what happened. The first thing he said to me on the phone was “what is the problem it is a very busy time”. I told him the problem with many interruptions from him cutting me off. Then he tells me to come into the store and he is going to fix me something. Great idea!!!! Cause he did not hear the fact that I live six hours away. Then he puts the phone down and starts talk to someone else.... guess it was another complaint. Will I be going to his store again???? NO Would I recommend this restaurant... for anything? NO Bad service of food! Very BAD customer service! And apparently they can’t...

The food was good. Onion rings were fantastic. I asked for lettuce and mayo only, and got lettuce, mayo and tomato, but I peeled the offending 🍅 off and enjoyed my sandwich. The service was okay, the girls were nice, but neither were inclined to stop tasking and ring me up for awhile. I feel some of that is the rural area. People treat each other like friends. They don't rush to greet or serve. On the one hand, this is charming. On the other, I've worked for some corporations that taught urgency and total customer focus, so it felt awkward, though not offensive. The cash register was older than the cashier and squealed like a cat when it opened. I felt bad that these girls didn't have modern equipment. The parking lot, like so many in this area, is uneven, patchy, and full of trash from inconsiderate customers. All that being said, the food was good, the prices were reasonable, the interior was decently clean, and the staff are friendly and very nice. I didn't have little ones along on this visit, but the play area looked like great fun. I will return just to let my grandkids enjoy that marvelous...

CHEAP OWNERS!! They will add on charges and then not give you the amount of food you paid for! I went through the drivethru earlier today to simply get a M&M mixed with Reese's blizzard. I pull up to the window and the cashier asked what I had and I preceded to give her my form of payment. She hands me the blizzard a few minutes later and I notice that it is not what I ordered. She stated that it was a M&M and Oreo blizzard. I told her politely that it was suppose to be a M&M and Reese one. She takes the blizzard away and a few minutes later hands out what I thought was the correct blizzard. I get a little ways down the road when I decide to enjoy my $4.24 small blizzard and low and behold it was the M&M and Oreo blizzard!!!! They handed me the exact same one!! I also had a friend go through here a few weeks ago and ordered a banana split. She got all the way home and realized that they did not put in the banana. So, she essentially paid double for a sundae. I will not be doing business here again. The managers...
