And I was ordering a groomsmen cake for my only son's rehearsal dinner . I had many questions and one of them was about the flavors of the cakes . The owner Kathleen rudely told me that they only have about 20 flavors in the specially cakes . And I replied "I guess it makes it easier to narrow down because there's so many varieties that you have ." Then Kathleen said to me "I take that as an insult " It was not meant to be an insult I am not a baker I do not work at your establishment it is the first groomsmen cake I will probably ever order of my life . I can't on you to guide me through the ordering system but I would appreciate being guided through by a nice person . Kathleen Wynne want to explain that she lost her brother for days ago then she told me that she would not be doing business with me ever again . As she hung up the phone I tried to get the words and that I'm sorry for the loss of your brother . I also would like to mention that I have stage IV metastatic breast cancer which is terminally ill and I can unequivocally say that I wake up every morning with a smile on my face trying to be happy and polite treating everybody with respect every single day no matter what life throws at me I refuse to not sparkle ! I am sorry Kathleen that you lost your brother and I'm also sorry that it has made your heart so ugly . You are my favorite bakery and now I posted on my Facebook what happened and I would encourage any of my friends/family not to do business with your establishment . There is never an excuse to be angry and try to argue with customers I suggest next time that you just explain nicely why you do things the way you do instead of just saying this is the way we do it there is never an excuse to be angry and try to argue with customers I suggest next time that you just explain nicely why you do things the way you do instead of just saying this is the way we do it period . And your excuses that you have been in business for 75 years well guess what honey and 75 yrs things have changed a lot even in the baking field there are so many different flavors , fillings , Frostings , fondont ,& shapes . First of all I think you should go see a therapist because you're not handling your brothers death very well . And then maybe you should go to some new or baking classes and two lectures to find out about all the new things we have in 2017 because there is much to say about things not changing but there is much to say also about progressively growing with all the new things out there...
Read moreI ordered a custom cake and gourmet cupcakes for my sister's "Lord of the Rings" themed bridal shower. I ordered over the phone. There were several different phone calls back and forth, the person I spoke to first said they could do what I was picturing, basically the "One Ring" from the series in cake form. So I said I would call back with cupcake flavors I chose and she said my order was in. A few phone calls later I found out my order actually still needed to be fully placed, and I was told they couldn't do the "One Ring" because no one was comfortable writing the script. Very surprising because they post so many elaborate cakes on social media. Anyway I called and asked if they could just write the "congratulations" message on the cake, still just one line of text wrapping around, they said yes, and I confirmed it would look like a ring and be golden, I specifically said like a golden cake I saw on their Instagram page. They said yes, I was excited expecting this cake. I had my mom pick it up so I didn't see it until I got to the venue and the cake was not at all what I had ordered. It basically looked like a very tall and thick Bundt cake. The only resemblance to a ring was a little hole down the middle. It was a weird yellow color with glitter on it, not gold. The text didn't wrap around like I was expecting. Thankfully the bride was still happy with it and she said it was tasty. I'm just disappointed that I was prepared to pay top dollar for a beautiful golden ring cake, and that's not what I got at all. They post so many beautiful cakes on social media so I really thought they would nail it. It was supposed to be the focus of the dessert table and it was pretty embarrassing. Thankfully the cupcakes were a hit. I'm not sure I'll have any more events where I need a custom cake like this, but I'll go elsewhere. Their cupcakes are...
Read moreI had a unfavorable experience at this bakery about a year ago, however I choose against writing a review as I only had one experience and did not feel the need to say anything about this small business. I stand by not writing a comment about the baked goods, but as I looked back at the website I peeked at the first review, and I cannot hold my breath on this one. The customer stated that the employees struggled with âbasic mathâ, to which the owner responded with, âSecondly, we don't educate staff, teachers do however we have all the tools here like a state of art point of sale system that calculates change and calculators available at all times. I don't believe a fair judgment on Bakery if someone you claim doesn't know "basic math". We don't discriminate, maybe someone is dyslexic... maybe not... but definitely an unfair judgment on bakery and an unkind phraseâ. I am a senior at a school which specializes in learning differences, and hearing comments diminishing the abilities of that of an individual with dyslexia confirms just how much I would not go back to this store. It is actually humorous that you choose to say that you âdonât discriminateâ, when in reality you are generalizing all people with dyslexia as people who are unable to comprehend and work with âsimple mathâ. I hope you sleep well at night knowing that the comment you made is the reason some children are ashamed to share their learning differences and feel inadequate in and out of the classroom! Before you make another comment, why donât you educate YOURSELF on what dyslexia is and what it means to generalize communities of people. Have fun responding in childish ways to...
