Great Service and Vibes, Limited Steak Selection for Non-Seafood Lover
My recent visit to Fish Tales Restaurant left me with mixed feelings. Let's start with the positives—the service was exceptional. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made our dining experience truly enjoyable. The atmosphere was vibrant, creating a lively and pleasant vibe that enhanced our evening.
However, as someone who doesn't indulge in seafood, I found the menu options to be quite limiting. While the restaurant is renowned for its seafood dishes, the steak selection for non-seafood enthusiasts like myself was disappointingly sparse. I was hoping for a more diverse range of non-seafood options to choose from, but my choices were significantly limited.
On a brighter note, the ambiance and service did manage to compensate for the limited menu options. The restaurant's cozy atmosphere and the welcoming attitude of the staff created a warm and inviting environment. Despite my culinary preferences, I appreciated the effort put into the overall dining experience.
In summary, Fish Tales Restaurant is an excellent choice for seafood lovers seeking a vibrant atmosphere and impeccable service. However, if you're not a fan of seafood and are hoping for a substantial steak selection, you might find the menu options somewhat lacking. I would recommend this restaurant for its ambiance and service, with a caveat for non-seafood diners to consider the limited variety of alternative dishes. A slightly expanded menu could make this restaurant a top choice for a wider...
Read moreI really REALLY wanted to like this place.
Short version: our fish was raw in the middle and the boston cream "bomb" was rock hard (frozen in the middle), long wait times.
We started with mussels and our meal started great. The mussels were done very well and no sand. Sauce was tops.
The lobster roll was delicious. It was so good, seriously. That's why I hate to leave a 2 star but my husbands fish was raw in the middle.
I brought it to the hostess attention (she was very young and her parents were dining there), she disappeared into the restaurant (we were sitting outside) and never returned,
When our waitress finally came over to check on us (about 20 minutes - you'd think it would be pretty important if someones meal was literally raw) and she clearly was not communicated to by hostess. Which was really really frustrating.
Shortly after another hostess came to work, so I guess first girl thought it was okay to just leave us stranded.
The waitress apologized and put in a whole new order. The rest of our food was untouched but I'm guessing it's for sanitation, so that's good.
She said she would comp us for the dessert which was served rock hard and practically inedible. Our final bill was still $89 and we don't drink.
Extremely long wait times and it didn't seem very busy...so not sure what's going on there.
The guy on the way out asked us how it was, I just said thanks and left.
Not a good experience unfortunately, will...
Read moreTypical boomer bar with keno on every wall. Staff was all teenage boys who had the same enthusiasm for their work as they would an algebra exam.
Was swatting away flies the whole night. Waited a good 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us to be seated. Utensils were dirty with bits of food crusted on them.
Clam chowder - very good. Not thick and very clammy without the typical overly bacond flavor. Would definitely get it again. But I asked for tobasco and they had none. Super odd for a bar - or other places will offer another hot sauce if they don't have it.
Lobster Bisque - terrible. No lobster flavor, mostly just tomato for some reason. Not worth 8 bucks for a cup at all.
The saving grace was that they know how to fry (mostly) Fish, scallops, shrimp and clam strips were excellent. However the fries sucked. Soggy without a single one being crispy. Really disappointing when it's like half the meal.
I also asked for malt vinegar- a staple of any fried seafood joint - and the kid brings me oil and balsamic for a salad.
90 bucks for 2 people, cups of soup, a beer each and then entrees. the fish tale platter was a lot of food, and worth the 32 bucks if the fries were better.
I'd go back if I were in the area and starving or out of other options....
