Upon arriving at this restaurant, which is nestled in a small shopping center, you may question the authenticity of the seafood. Once inside, the smell of fresh seafood overloads the olfactory senses and you feel reassured that your meal is going to be tasty. At this time, you are greeted by a friendly staff member, who politely explains the menu and will take your name for the order. Once seated with an ice cold beer (or beverage of choice), a staff member will call your name… at which time, happiness abounds as fresh delicious seafood is placed before you in plentiful portions. There is a nice self service area of butter, cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, napkins, and take away containers (which will come into play later). The staff also places a convenient bucket on the table for disposal of shells, corncobs, and likewise refuse. Upon devouring the feast set before you, the cheerful staff members will check on you and replenish your beer (or beverage of choice). After enjoying the delicious dishes, the sense of fullness will come upon you. You will ignore this first sense and continue to devour the tasty food before you… The second time this sense strikes, you will collect one of the aforementioned take away containers. In shorter words… I was in town on business and thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this...
Read moreFirst time at Poppa's, and it's unfortunate I have to write this review. We were helped and walked through how to order and things were going great. We were excited to try the crab legs in hopes to come back for AYCE. Ordered 7 clusters of crab and two salads. Sat down and waited.....and waited ....and waited. Was not concerned until it was 45 mins later and a family came in sat next to us and got a tray full of crab and shrimp in less than 10 mins. Went to the front counter and was told they had not had time to bring the crab to our table and handed me a tray of cold crab. I asked to see a manager, but there was not one at the time. I was offered a refund after I suggested that would be the proper action, but since I still wanted to try the cold crab legs was only offered half off. I took them and sat down to eat cold crab legs. Was at the resturant for 90 mins (1 1/2 hours). Will not return, which is sad because we go to the coast for AYCE crab weekly and wanted to find something a little bit closer to home. To give credit where credit is due. The crab legs were tasty!...
Read moreMy purchase of a catfish and shrimp basket with red pickled potatoes were decent for basket that cost me $16 I definitely received two anorexic pieces of catfish.
I mean the size of two of my fingers that were gone in 2 seconds the rest of my basket was full of shrimp they were decent nothing to really complain about but come on I must have had 30 pieces of shrimp and just those two pieces of catfish that really amounted to not even one piece of a full fillet of catfish that's why I am so frustrated with my order.
When you are used to having quality food you know what to look for the views of this company on the web are most likely those of the people who are happy with what they've eaten but when you travel and live the broad you know what quality food is your expectations are higher no disrespect to those who have been pleased with the food but this was not an excellent representation of Cajun cooking anyone can take seasoning from another company and clean some seafood and put it in a styrofoam container and give it to hungry patrons. Please be careful to eat...
