Carriage Inn — Restaurant in Haubstadt

It was busy when we arrived and so we were in the bar by the hostess. It was freezing cold. in there. I actually went to the car to get our jackets. Took a while for bartender to get to our table. She was friendly and apologetic for taking so long. Ordered fried chicken livers, mash potatoes, and green beans. There was a heaping amount and fried just perfect. Mash potatoes were hot , green beans had nice flavor but were cold. Also ordered grilled salmon, german fried potatoes, and green beans. The salmon was cooked very well done and was dry, potatoes were fine, but once again, green beans were cold. I asked for some melted butter to put over salmon to help make it not so dry. ( It helped a little. ) it was just overcooked to the point that it seemed burnt. The bartender was too busy to come to the table to check on us. Seemed a little overpriced. Was looking forward to a nice dinner with coworkers after a long hot week on a school bus. We made reservations at 5:30, got seated promptly. Ordered our family style meal, waited 30 minutes for it to come, but, it's Friday. First thing, the slaw had a long hair in it, they took it back, brought fresh, good to go. There was 4 of us, enough potatoes for maybe 2 at best, and a half cup of gravy. We did flag them down to bring us more. We get done eating, we were chatting among each other, the waitress brings our ticket, 5 minutes later, she comes back and asked us if we were ready to pay, one lady in the group said, we're just talking we'll pay soon. We held our office Christmas dinner at the Carriage Inn on Wed, 12/21/17. It was the first time most of us had been to the restaurant. My family and I have been wanting to go for years since we know the owner. After our experience on Wednesday, we will definitely be back. The food was amazing! It tasted like I was eating at my parent's table. The fried chicken, roast, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, bread, pie... delicious! The staff were very attentive and kind.
