We called and ordered nachos and 18 tacos, I arrived at The Establishment to pick up our order and I sat in there for 15 minutes watching other patrons be waited on before I was even spoke to, finally I was spoken to. A gentleman came out from the back after several other servers had waited on and seated several different sets of couples three different sets of couples to be exact, one lone gentleman and then one other gentleman that was there to pick up a carryout order and then after the gentleman that works there asked me what my number was and I said sorry I didn't get a number but I had 18 tacos and nachos and he assured me that he gave me a number and was very rude about it then he went and proceeded to pick up my food which I had seen sitting on a table, on an open table no heat lamps no anything as I had sat inside for a good 15 minutes waiting to be waited on while I watched everybody else come in and get waited on then the gentleman behind the counter when I asked him about getting my food off of this open table told me that the female server doesn't speak English, the female server not speaking English has nothing to do with the fact that my food set out on a table for 15 minutes and nobody even offered to ask me if I was dine in or carry out, not to mention I heard her speak English asking other patrons if they were dine in and how many! I got home after paying over $60 for our food and lo and behold there were no nachos I called the place back the same gentleman from behind the counter had answered the phone and assured me that no we put the nachos in there with your tacos no there's absolutely nothing but tacos and my food there are no nachos he told me once again we gave you your nachos and I said I'll bring all the food back so that way you can see it we got absolutely no nachos he said we'll make you more nachos and hung up the phone on me I would not waste my time spending money at this establishment just to get kicked in the face and to be given the wrong food..save your time and order Chinatown where they are always friendly and make sure you get what...
Read moreWe were in Havana, IL, from Florida, to do work on my husband's parents' house after the passing of my father-in-law. It was our wedding anniversary on September 14th, and we wanted a nice dinner to celebrate. Heard about the opening of a new Mexican restaurant called Los Charros Mexican Bar and Grill on Market Street. Decided to try it, and it was the best Mexican food we've had in years!
The restaurant is very big and festive with outdoor seating in a courtyard. You are greeted instantly, and given chips and salsa when seated. I had a lime margarita on the rocks for $2.99. My husband had his favorite negra modelo beer. Both served in 2 or 3 minutes.
As for the menu...it offers many, many choices, and a few dishes I've not seen before. I asked our waiter for something really special, really authentic and he suggested MOLCAJETE. What a dish! It is massive and beautiful in its size and presentation! Truly one of the tastiest meals I've had in a long time in any restaurant, including many in different cities in Florida. It has generous portions of beef, chicken, chorizo, vegetables, and my favorite, shrimp. The shrimp were large and perfectly cooked. I had 6 large shrimp in this dish!
The service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly, efficient and upbeat. Our food was fresh, very hot and very tasty. Wish I could have had dessert, but I was so full! We had leftovers from my Molcajete to feed both of us the next day, lucky us! Havana is very fortunate to have this new restaurant. What a find! I highly recommend Los Charros. Ask the waiter for recommendations. Try something different like I did. I suggest Molcajete, of course! Plan to visit again...
Read moreWe were in Havana during the Spoon River sale tour and was looking for a place to eat! We found this place in the middle of town! It’s a really nice and cool looking set up, meaning that the tables and booths are unique! The Margaritas are great and have just the right amount of tequila to mix. I’m not one that usually has to take home a doggy bag but I had to here. I had the 12 inch Burrito and it was huge and bigger than the other restaurants I had been to. The reason I gave a 4 rating is that the steak was tuff and lacked a bit of flavor. I wish I had ordered ground beef instead or chicken. Spouse had Fajitas Nachos and they were good and we had to get another doggie bag! Large portions but a little pricey but I will return the next time I get...
