Barnaby's Havertown — Restaurant in Haverford Township

The atmosphere here really sucks! Walked in and 3 workers in the front were having a full conversation for a couple of minutes while me and my kid stood there. I had to ask them do I seat myself or do I wait for them to seat me in order for them to acknowledge me. The food service sucks the food is a hit or miss. I had a cheesesteak egg roll it wasn’t as good as the first time I had it from here. There was no peppers on it and it tasted like it was re heated it wasn’t fresh at all. My kid had pizza and fries he ate the pizza but not the fries. He said it tasted okay. The waitress was so blah low energy not personable at all. She was more occupied on her phone near the kitchen door than serving us properly. She had her hair out (big No no in restaurant industry to have your hair out when serving food) I don’t know why that’s not enforced here. Secondly the honey mustard I asked for tasted like a sweet mystery yogurt it was very gross and super white never seen honey mustard that color and I love honey mustard so I am very familiar with how it’s supposed to taste. She gave me a straw with her hands not even with a napkin and she was twirling her loose hair afterwards (very gross and unsanitary). Thankfully a young man with a low cut brung out food and yes I screened it for hair before eating and there wasn’t hair in it (Thank God) We didn’t recieve any water at all. I really feel like the way they treat BLACK customers in here are disgusting. I came here before for drinks with nearby friends and it wasn’t great but it wasn’t THIS horrible . After her very poor customer service she took my money for the bill and when I asked her for my change she rolled her eyes. Of course I tipped because I am not an evil person and I understand the service industry but I was definitely not gonna let her keep ALL my change after that horrible customer service experience. I’m usually a big tipper but there was so many red flags during my dining experience and I didn’t get up and leave because that’s not my personality.

To the management please train your staff to be friendly and attend to their customers. Put their hair in ponytails (away from their face) when serving food and not play in their hair while speaking to customers. It’s sad that I have to write that in a review when this place been around for years your staff should know better. Secondly don’t treat customers differently based on race cause we definitely feel and see the difference. It’s 2024 not 1940 do better.

Usually a good experience but this time makes me never want to go back there. We ordered on Friday night for takeout. We were told it would be a 40 minute wait because they’re backed up (totally understand). The issue was when we got there. They couldn’t find our order after we just waited almost an hour for our food. They told my fiancé we must have called the other one. We confirmed on the website that it was the correct place (none of the employees knew the phone number to the business they are working at). They finally said they found our order slip & it was never put in with the kitchen & it would be ready in 15 minutes. We FINALLY get our food & get home, only to find they forgot the beef for the nachos. We called and they put us on hold to try and figure out how to fix their mistake. Girl comes back on and says it’s sitting up on the counter, they forgot to put it in the bag. We get there AGAIN (wasted gas on someone else’s mistakes) and the girl pretty much threw it out the entrance door at us and turned around and walked back in the restaurant without a word. I feel we should’ve gotten refunded for at least the nachos, if not a whole meal comp for all this. Needless to say, the food wasn’t that good & they pretty much lost long time loyal customers. I was going to go in and talk to them but at this point I was so angry & we already had plans that got pushed back an hour because of their incompetence, & my fiancé asked me not to go in because I was upset....

I went to this place a yr ago and a half and I loved the food. Yesterday I took my husband there and he loved it because he loves meats. I was highly disappointed as this place use to sell ground beef w their beef quesadillas and now they exchanged the ground beef for brisket meat. All beef is brisket meat in this place, and so if you want ground beef ; the only beef you get is brisket. I think they want to save money but reducing the meat variety, but if you don't have variety for me forget it. Due to only having brisket meat in all of their beef dishes; the salmon wasn't tasty at all and they give you a very small fillet of it. The sides were good, the waiter Nick was very nice. I won't be back here again though... ever. However, I think my husband and his friends will be back occasionally, because he loves brisket yet he did become stomach ill from eating their chicken drum appetizer, but recovered quickly. Whatever changes they made from a yr n a half ago they need to go back to it because this new way of brisket beef only; and the untasty and soggy small salmon isn't cool at all. The salmon was mushy soft w sauce. This was the spot 2021-2022, after that in Sept 2024, they went down hill as far as taste and the brisket beef only; trying to pass it as a ground beef substitute. French fries were undercooked and soft and mushy on the inside and outside..I...
