I think some New Englanders don't appreciate the extent to which they live in an ice-cream paradise: around here you can get locally-made ice cream from mom-and-pop stands that beats anything you can buy from a big national manufacturer hands down. Carter's is typically great; I'd say it's the best one in Haverhill.
It's only open seasonally and has no indoor seating, and the limited parking fills up fast in the summer, but it's on a hill and if you hang around to eat your ice cream you can treat yourself to gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside.

Got home and and opened it. The server didnt even attempt to pack it down when scooping it so I could slide the spoon down to the bottom all the way around the cup. When I took a spoon full off the top I could see the the bottom also. Couldn't have been more than a scoop and a half total.
