The outdoor cafe was pleasant and clean and personnel were nice. We were starving when we arrived. We three ordered the 2 combo and garlic shrimp dishes, so no reviews of steak nor açaí bowls will be given here. The food was very disappointing. Very. Usually food tastes even better when starving but it was so mediocre I am so surprised this place got 4.8. The lemon pepper tasted like artificial lemon flavoring, the garlic shrimp was way overly salted and the lava shrimp’s spicy flavor was not spicy nor in harmony with the shrimp. It was kind of like a dry Indian curry powder but not spicy and not a good flavor. All shrimps were overly salted and tasted reminiscent of what I would get as prepackaged frozen garlic shrimp I would get like at Costco. It’s not terrible but not great and definitely not what I was expecting for a nearly 5star place. I could make it better using real ingredients, not artificial products. I’ve eaten at plenty of great food trucks so let’s not discount its quality just because it is a food truck. The saving grace was the fresh salad. It was really fresh and the passion fruit dressing was very decent. I could even taste a hint of their fragrant honey in it. Also for this terrible quality it was very expensive, see posted menu. $24 for my 12 medium mediocre not fresh shrimps….☹️. My friend who at the garlic one didn’t digest it well later in evening…not poisoned or anything, just indigestion.
The salad might be considered healthy. But the overly salted, oil drenched shrimp can not be...
Read morepicture the scene. a hungry, teenage boy in kona, raring to go to hilo with his irrelevant family. we stopped for the pastries along the way, but the real treat was the burger from Aloha Mix Food Truck Cafe. malasadas from the bakery? pretty good. but the burger.... oh boy it was a christmas miracle. the man running the truck was great! he got my ordered started before a couple of indecisive people, showing his immense care for his customers. i also ordered a strawberry banana smoothie that had mango nectar. whaaaaat???? scrum. the burger came in due time. i insatiably dove into the rich meat, sensing a hint of spice. i graciously shared bites with my family, willing them to experience the flavor bomb this burger was. incredible. onion mayo engulfed my tongue soothingly, with the tangy pickle pricking my tastebuds ever so slightly. a minute passed. i was already halfway done with my burger. i began to mourn the burger use eaten already, but i could not stop diving into this damn burger head first. before i knew it, i was finished with the fluffy brioche comfort of this burger. i munched on some complimentary onion chips. to say this burger was incredible was an understatement. all in all, i will dream of this burger with intense fervor for the rest of my...

I ordered the steak and shrimp combo, with New York steak and lemon pepper shrimp. Unfortunately, the bus was out of the top sirloin, so I was forced into ordering the New York for an extra $5.
After a short wait for a food truck, we got our food. My steak was rare, as a steak should be, and it was delicious. The lemon pepper shrimp was even better, making me wish the Surf and Turf combo had more than four shrimp included.
The combo came with salad, however the woman who took and made our order forgot the dressing. When we brought that to her attention, she immediately fixed that error.
Aloha Mix offered a great meal, but two people ordering from a food truck shouldn't be dropping more than $50. Regrettably, we did, and the excessive price drops this from five...
