I’ve been coming to Brick Oven since I was a toddler and it was always a warm, local-friendly spot. Sadly, that has really changed over the last few years and, after given it a few more chances recently, I can just no longer recommend this place. It’s disappointing, but the prices in particular have become absurd for the quality and portion sizes. Cost have been rising everywhere and I understand that, but Brick Oven has gone too far and it seems like they are trying to see just how far they can take it and get away with. They are nickel and dining on everything — we spent over $90 for 2 pizzas for takeout and when I asked for ranch (none was provided), they wanted to charge $0.75 for a 1oz dressing cup and $0.45 for chili flakes, something standard at literally every other pizza restaurant, and they are passing off credit card fees to the customer (a nice 2.5%). Im sorry, that is just shameful and, frankly, a bit of a slap in the face to the local community that has carried them through a tough times and made them popular. On top of that, customer service for both dine in and takeout have been lackluster and cold; the woman today rolled her eyes at me when I expressed surprise at the extra charges, other times they’ve gotten orders wrong or forgotten items. It’s sad to say goodbye to a place that’s been a comfort restaurant for me, but at this point my family and I will be getting our pizza...

I so wanted this to be awesome. First off, there is zero brick oven in the kitchen . Second, there is zero communication amongst the kitchen and wait staff as to when a to go order is ready . I felt bad for them because There was a traffic jam or something on the island that prevented their kitchen staff from coming on time, however even within our patience about that there was no communication in the restaurant. ,We ordered to go and we finally came in and sat at the bar and ordered drinks thinking that that word pass the time but 30 minutes later after we were told our order would be ready, still nothing however we saw multiple pizzas being stocked on the top shelf and so finally we ask the staff if our pizza was ready and they went over there and found it. Lots of respect for people that work on the island because of the traffic and so forth however I think there are internal issues that could be fixed here and people could be a lot more happier walking away. They do have a vegetarian option and it’s pretty stocked with ingredients which is good and I appreciate that but the crust was like a very thick tough biscuit. We sorted took it out and dined in so, that’s what I have. Really...

Don’t do it! I have watched this restaurant go downhill in the last 15 years but, particularly bad in the last 5-6. It was a staple on Kaua

i for many decades and deserved the accolades it received. I have been eating pizza from here since 1977. But, sadly, this establishment is relying on previous reviews to deliver an overpriced subpar product (there is even a review from friends of the owner that is terrible YIKES 🚩). From the quality of ingredients and preparation to the poor service. Even the long term, awesome waitstaff have all but disappeared, which is a good indication of their demise. The Brick Oven Pizza of the past is no longer. A whopping \$45 for a large “super” combo pizza is unheard of in most places around the globe. To add insult to injury, they charge almost 4% for using a card for your purchase. The owner could try to justify the prices if the quality were there. But don’t be fooled. There are menu items that were originally homemade that are now mass produced items bought in bulk. Yet their menu prices continue to rise. Draw from that what you will. There are other establishments on Kaua

i that won’t swindle you and prepare delicious meals....

Let me start by saying I hate giving less than 5 stars to small businesses. We had 2 small pizzas, one gluten free and one "meats." The food here was pretty good, even the gluten free version according to my wife. The pizza sauce was a bit sweet for my taste, but that's a personal preference. The server was friendly, but they got very busy after we arrived, so we didn't really see her again after the food arrived. The decor was cool, and gave us things to talk about. Several people at the bar seemed to know each other, so likely a bit of a local hangout. My biggest complaint is the 3.5% fee for paying with a credit card. Now, if this restaurant was super cheap and running thin margins, this may not have bothered me as much, but our total for 2 drinks and 2 small pizzas was over $60. Adding a fee on top of that seems completely unnecessary.

First off we ordered POG to drink. Passionfruit, orange and guava juice. Delicious blend of the 3 juices. Next a medium pizza fed 2 people generously. The crust is thin in the middle. The outside crust is brushed with garlic butter. The pizza sauce is homemade marinara. We had pepperoni, delicious Italian sausage, onions and bell peppers. The menu had a long list of available toppings. They also have sandwiches, pastas. Interesting atmosphere with hand painted humorous murals. Entire place was decorated with old license plates from every state
