We stopped by the Treehouse on March 9th 2023, and we had an excellent experience. The location is situated perfectly in the middle of the narrowest spots on the north-western road around Maui. The Banana Bread - The Banana Bread was amazing! It was soft, moist and full of flavour. It also was not burnt on the bottom and came with a knife to cut up the loaf. My wife makes a killer banana bread and this was rivaling her for the best I have ever had. The Juice- We purchased a locally grown and made passionfruit juice bag. It was unforgettable. That juice did not stand a chance between our two kids. A bag filled up both of their water bottles and we thought it was well worth it. Taro Chips - They sold these deadly taro chips! The flavour of these chips is unreal. So fresh and crispy. Trinkets - We scored bracelets for $2 per, and they were made locally, perfect little gifts for our friends and family back home.
10/10 I would recommend hitting this stop if you make it...
Read moreJulia has definitely shifted from the best banana bread to completely taking advantage of tourists. While we have stopped there every time we have visited Maui, this last trip will be the last. Her prices are outrageous. It was $71 for 3 loaves of banana bread, one small bag of cookies, and a small lemonade. The banana bread is rather small and while it is good , it is not the best and there are other places with good banana bread that is far cheaper. (And far less dangerous to get to). I am fairly certain that the cookies are store bought and repackaged. While the lemonade used to taste amazing, it tasted like powdered drink mix lemonade with a splash of pineapple juice. For $11!!! I hate feeling taken advantage of. Once you drive the perilous road all the way there, what are you going to do-turn around empty handed when you hear her prices? Of course not and...
Read moreWe've been coming here for 15+ years. Believe it or not, the drive (from the west) used to be worse (unpaved) -- but it is still a serious adventure. A single narrow lane with no shoulder between you and a cliff, for two-way traffic. The stand itself seems to be (at least sometimes) stocked in the morning, and it's self-serve until they run out. On the Thursday we went, we got the last banana bread in the stand at ~10:45am. That said, on the way back (it must have opened while we were driving out, as it wasn't there on the way in) there was a tent selling Julia's banana bread, with plenty in stock, before the road got really treacherous. So unless you are up for a driving adventure with possibly no reward at the end, you might prefer to drive from the west around midday and look for a tent on the side of the road!
The banana bread itself is still...
