There is some controversy/discussion on who makes the best banana bread on the island. It’s MamaLei’s. Done. I didn’t try other, but really no need. So called competitor down the windy road is charging customers $18 for a loaf. At mama’s it’s $8.00. The location is right next to the blowhole parking lot. I purchased one while she was still setting her tent at 10 am and one on our way back from hiking at 4 pm, when she was closing. Also sold other snacks and drinks. Lady and her husband were really nice and polite.

We swung by marmala's for banana bread and water on our ride around the West Maui bike loop. We try to stop here every time they're here. So much aloha. And really delicious banana bread! The shortbread also looks amazing, but we did not have room to carry. So we'll head back up with the car for banana bread and treats for our work crew at home. We got the macadamia nut banana bread and it was spectacular. Very nice people. Worth the drive and the stop. Plus you can see the nakalelele blowhole. Super aloha!

Got the Mac Nut Cookies and Chocolate Chip Cookies. I wish I had more Mac Nut Cookies. 10/10! Absolutely worth 10$! Also, I wish we tried the Coconut Cookies cuz the Chocolate Chip ones were kinda bland. Needs more chocolate chips, or maybe a Mac Nut Chocolate Chip Cookie combo would be more flavorful. Definitely love to support small buisness & local vendors, though!

I saw the 4.8 rating and thought, "This has to be exceptional!". Usually the rating score is pretty close. Let me add to the average. MamaLei's products... tastes good. However, this is banana cake, not "bread". While it's tasty, it's by no means what I was expecting. My wife makes banana bread and it's far superior to this. To top it off, it comes in a small (emphasis on small) tin. This costs $10! There's no price marked. We also purchased a small container of macadamia nut shortbread cookies. Small very flat shortbread cookies. These are very good, and again, $10 for a small container! I headed for the car, my wife gave her a $20. She got in the car and I asked her how much it was? She said $20! I asked her if she left a tip and she said no. We had the "bread" tonight. Again, it's cake and not worth $10 for what we bought. I don't know if she has a storefront, but it didn't look like she had a whole lot of overhead to cover. What a freaking racket! Don't...
