The Seaside Restaurant and Aqua Farm — Restaurant in Hawaii

I really enjoyed The Seaside Restaurant and Aqua Farm. The restaurant is right next to a body of water, so I’m told. I went at night so i couldn’t tell you what the view is like. But what I can tell you is that the food at Seaside is good and quite delicious. I did a little bit of research and ordered the most popular dishes and the internet hive mind did not disappoint. I started with their signature Mai Tai which was nicely mixed. For my appetizer I went with the cheesy escargot. Normally escargot is served with lots of butter. At Seaside it’s buttery but topped with cheese and served with toasted bread. It was excellent. For my entree I went with the Aholehole with a soup upgrade. The soup was calm chowder, which was good but I’ve had better. The Aholehole on the other hand was great. It’s lightly battered, seasoned with salt and fried. It’s served with rice and vegetables, a wedge of lemon and daikon. I would suggest asking for extra lemon wedges since you only get one. Aholehole has a delicate taste so the lemon and salt makes it work. But I will warn you that it can be difficult to eat. It’s not deboned so because when eating it. Thankfully the bones are easy to pick out. After my entree I ordered the bread pudding with ice cream. Again I’ve had better bread pudding but Seaside’s bread pudding is tasty. They add taro so it gives it a different texture.

First impression and customer service is horrible!!! Made reservation on December 1st at noon for a 7:00pm reservation for my husband and I to celebrate my birthday, and was looking forward to enjoying a really nice evening out, and was told when we got there 15 minutes prior to our reservation that they couldn't seat us because every table they seated was just ordering their appetizers and was told we would have to wait 2 hours before we could get seated. We got here before a 4 top showed up, and they got seated at a table, and we were offered a bar seating. I have worked in the food and beverage department in several resorts restaurants, private restaurants,and also own a restaurant, and the hostesses or managers always know how to run the reservation manifest and know how long each seating takes to dine, and when the next seatings are available. Was looking forward to trying out a new restaurant here on the east side, after moving here a year ago from the west side, only to be disappointed. I'm very disappointed that the person that took our reservation, or the hostess/manager didn't take the time to call us if we couldn't be accomadated at the time of our reservation so we wouldn't have driven all the way here, and would have gone some where else, which we did. Went there for fathers day with family. The reservations were made for 530pm. We were seated at almost 6pm. Order drinks appetizers,and entrees. We got i drinks quickly, but our appetizers and entrees came inconsistently. Our table was seated and ordered but 3 other tables of 4 showed up after. Ordered food and drink and recieved theres before ours. Half of our table got their food and ate while the other half waited. When the first half finished there food, then the other half of our table recieved there entrees but didnt recieve their soup or salad until much later. I was confused, i thought appetizers and salads come before entrees? By the time our table had finally recieved all our food and ate it, it was after 8pm. We waited so long for our food it was crazy. My food took the longest which was puzzling. A medium rare prime rib and salad. Thats all, but i guess its one of those cook to order items. As im looking around after eating i notice poorly painted walls and fixture. Windows covered with dirt an streaks. Rusty curtain rods, very old carpet, an a musky smelly antique restroom in front.
