Einstein Bros. Bagels — Restaurant in Hayward

The customer service here is terrible. I understand they are college students, but really ? Not a smile out of any them, they practically glare at you when they call your order. I’ve been here three times this semester. The first time. It took 25 minutes to get a bagel with cream cheese. The second time they double charged me for a bagel sandwich and put next to nothing on the sandwich, it was all bagel- sad looking. I payed over $10 instead of $5. I found out today I was double charged when they rang me up and it was $5z I can’t see the tiny writing on the board behind them so when I brought it up. All she did was point to the sign. I’m like okay, you still over charged me. No offer for compensation or anything. I brought up the fact that they charged me ten dollars for a bagel with almost nothing on it two days ago. She just looks at me. Once upon a time, I also worked as an 18 year old at a campus coffee shop, but I certainly did not act this way.

Edited to add that Today (following week) I witnessed them charge a customer 2 for butter on his bagel. When he pointed it out, she copped an attitude and acted like she was doing him a favor by charging him what’s advertised.

In my final year here at Cal East Bay and decided to come here last week because I wanted to try. Wasn’t to bad. It seems that they take forever to make a bagel sandwich. I decided to come today to get something quick. Website says they close at 8pm. By the time I got there, they said they are closed and I said your website states 8 and the guy then said they close at 6pm and I said there is 5 minutes and the guy told me they couldn’t make sandwich and I told him that I didn’t want one, just something to drink. If you are gonna close at 6pm, at least post a sign or cafe hours on the door indicating hours of operation. I don’t know if they are in a hurry to get home but they should give some curtesy to students...

The food isn’t bad but the service is terrible. It takes them forever to make a bagel sandwich and even if you ordered on the app an hour before, they give people that ordered in store their orders first. Today I placed an order for 12:00pm and it said it was ready at 12:12pm. I walked in at 12:20pm and asked if my order was ready and they said it still wasn’t ready. I waited an additional 20 minutes and asked again and the person who originally told me it wasn’t ready grabbed a bagel off of the back counter that had been sitting there the whole time.
