Mom and I drove up there after an appointment in hazard and decided to give this place a try. After waiting 20 minutes we were serviced with menus only to be then left again for 20 more minutes while the workers were of course distracted on their phones. After we tell them our order (2 spaghetti specials and 2 sides of cheese sticks) Our salads come out and cheese sticks. No cheese on both salads, and the ranch bottle had dried ranch caked around the tip. I didn’t pay much mind to that so I ate it and made do. Then after I start on our mozzarella sticks (which we specifically asked for marinara), we then discover that it is mild salsa. I decided to pay no mind to that either at the time as well because salsa and marinara look pretty similar. After the spaghetti came out, we dug in because it seemed like a great menu item since it is a special everyday. No it was not. Somehow, someway, the spaghetti sauce was dry and bitter. I ate it anyways because I was starving, but i thought; “maybe this would be better with their garlic bread”. No, there was more garlic on a single square inch of the bread than I have eaten in my entire life. I then decided enough was enough and I asked for marinara for my mozzarella sticks because I actually wanted to eat something I KNEW was going to be good, but I wanted marinara for the mozzarella sticks. After the owner bickers with their employees for not wanting to get 2 cups of marinara, I return to my seat. Not even after 1/2 a taste I spit up the marinara. I have no clue as to why on the entire planet how the marinara tasted so horrific. It was fermented, old, stout, and bitter x10. Ive never written a review on any bad establishments in my life but this one really takes the cake. I am shocked at how poorly run this...
Read moreI have never had an experience like I had at this place. I was in the area volunteering, helping out with an assigned partner from Madison Wisconsin with the EKY floods. We set up Letcher County Fire/EMS radio comms and got done late. En route back towards Corbin, we stopped here as it was a 24h diner and it was already past 23:00 when pretty much all else was closed. We went in and, after a long day, both ordered ribeyes. One by one, seeing our uniform, the locals came by and said thanks for our service, or just offered fist-bumps. Then, one Donald "Happy" Mobelini did the same, and even offered us an air mattress at his place as Corbin was still a good 90+ minutes away. We had to decline but we couldn't believe what had happened. Later, I went to close out our tab. The cashier said that we were all set already and that our money was no good in this place. Talk about local hospitality. I still am touched by the generosity of this community through which we were just passing in this moment. A lot of these towns had been through significant grief and back, and to see how they supported those who were supporting the locals; it honestly still brings a...
