Years ago, I used to take my young children in here and enjoy pizza, which was usually pretty good. I decided to try the personal deep dish pizza and that was pretty good, one or two times. After that, I would order it, but it was never the same. Over the summer, I want to a local park festival where they were had their food truck, and I ordered a slice of pizza. I had a broken leg and was on a scooter. I saw them take the pizza out of the oven, but I didn't get a slice of it. I waited and waited and I couldn't take it anymore and I said give me back my money. So now I'm out a local farm, where their food truck is stationed all weekend long in October. I looked at the pictures on the side and I ordered a chicken parmesan sandwich with a homemade roll. They did tell me it's a real piece of chicken. I said okay I'll take it along with one slice of regular pizza not heated and one slice of Sicilian heated. Well I don't know what that is in my plain piece of pizza some big black thing. Is that an olive? Is that a really wet piece of basil? I have no idea. I hate olives so I hope it isn't that. The chicken itself is burnt and it's extremely thin and mushy. You can see here it's terrible and looks nothing like the sandwich in the menu on the side of the truck. The flavor of the chicken itself isn't bad but it's just about not edible at all. The roll is burnt on the outside and drenched with all this sauce on the top and bottom insides. Sauce doesn't go on top of the mozzarella cheese. So the bottom bun is soaked and disgusting and the top bun is all wet and burnt on the outside. And there's not enough cheese on this. Disgusting and disappointing. This lovely meal cost me $17. Places always want to tip but I don't give those tips anymore. For what? And they have like five people in there. Be attentive and do your job. I want my money back. I can honestly say this is the very last time I'm ever going to give this local business a try. As others posted in here, there are issues with waitresses and poor quality inside the restaurant, and with taking way too long. I don't even know how they're still in business to be honest. I also asked for this to go, meaning, I want my sandwich wrappped nicely, and the pizzas should be separated with the hot one separate from the cold one. Instead they crammed it all into this little box that couldn't even close. The farm is on a hill and I've got to walk in the dirt across the highway, with a sort of broken leg that I'm nursing, and i have to walk with a cane. The box had tape on it but it couldn't possibly close, and the flaps were out which means the hot food is getting cold as I'm walking. That's so disappointing. How do they stay in business? I just don't get it. People just must be used to eating poor quality. I don't even know if the birds would eat this that's how nasty it is. ... after I wrote this, I proceeded to try to eat some of the dry parts of the bottom bun and it...
Read moreThis is the second time I've gotten Alta since I've been back in my home town, and I'm extremely annoyed that I haven't had it sooner! The food is AMAZING!!! The prices are more than fair, and the portions are PERFECT and then some for what you pay for! You can tell that the food is EXTREMELY fresh and everything is made in house, and that's huge in today's day and age! This time, my girlfriend and I got a square pizza (half white ricotta / half sicilian), an order of bruschetta, a ravioli dinner, and a chicken finger platter for my father. Let me just start by saying, the square pizza is a MUST from here!!! By far the best square pizza I've ever had! The dough is incredibly fresh and fluffy, yet the crust has the perfect amount of firmness and crunch for the crust! The sauce is out of this world delicious! You can quite literally taste each and every individual ingredient as you're chewing, it's incredible! The bruschetta was PERFECT!!! Very very fresh bread, seems like the tomatoes and peppers were literally picked straight from the vine, chopped, tossed in home made balsamic vinegarette dressing and placed on top of the bred and the chunks of mozzarella cheese...all I can say is WOW in the best way possible!!! My girlfriend's ravioli tasted phenomenal! Fresh beyond explaining! You can tell just by looking at it, that the pasta is homemade! The sauce it comes with is delicious as well!
If you live in the Hazleton area, and HAVEN'T been to Alta yet...you might need to schedule a visit with your doctor to get your head checked, because you're missing out on the areas BEST Italian food, hands down!!! And even if you don't live in the area, make the drive, get the food, it's completely and totally worth it and you WON'T be...
Read moreWonderful experience at Alta Pizzeria & Pasta House, 380 S. Poplar St. Hazleton, Pa on December 15, 2023. The group that I was with were warmly welcomed by the very friendly staff. The food was really delicious, hot where appropriate and appealing in presentation. Their chicken soup was amazing and generously provided in a bowl. We all loved the bread used for our sandwiches. So soft and fresh. My friend ordered the Panino Cilentana that kept me drooling. I had a wonderful pepper, egg and cheese sandwich as I wanted a hot meal. The fries were some of the best I've ever had. I couldn't believe how much value was provided in 2023 terms. This is a real gem in Hazleton's eating scene. Check out the photo of the two chefs, heroes of the kitchen who made us such a great lunch! I told them we're going to put Alta Pizzeria and Pasta House on the map! I highly recommend! Note: Their patio looks fund to hang out on. Summer cannot come again soon enough! Like the...
