I went last night for an engagement party and it seemed really nice and I’ve heard good things, but I did not have a good experience. We had a pretty large party so I expected some wait time with the waitresses, but we had two areas we were taking up and like three waitresses, but there were multiple times that I would try to get their attention to even just get water that they had already on a tray while they were walking around and they would ignore me, I was trying to order food for kids so I went by the door where they were walking into to try to catch them to give them my order and the manager came outside, stood over me and screamed at us to get out of their way. I’m not exaggerating. It was extremely rude I think his name is West, so I turned around and said I’m trying to be in their way I want to put in an order and I haven’t been able to get their attention and he just screamed in my face again to move out of the walkway of the staff. Then walked inside, so I followed him inside and went to the front where he was and said since you want to scream in my face do you want to order too? And he said I’m not going to take your attitude. I said well you have it when you scream at me that’s what you’re going to get and all I’m trying to do is put in a food order and he said put in your order here or with a waitress I’m not taking it and walked away the hostess was extremely nice and took my order and brought the food out to us as a to go order. The only time the waitress at our table acknowledged me was when I was leaving, trying to make me pay a tab and I said you’ve not spoken one word to me other than when I first got here he gave me a water. I ordered my food at the front and paid for it, and she still made me stand there and give her our names And she went through and of course we did not have a tab and she kept saying that I was my sister and brother-in-law and I needed to pay the tab and I said no they are sitting right there. They’re still eating they haven’t left. I paid inside. Then she finally let me go, I am almost 9 months pregnant one week away. I couldn’t even eat the food. I was so mad so I let kids eat my husband’s food. We took it to go. It’s so sad because it seems really cool and a good idea I think the further they get into somewhere they’re gonna wanna invest in some fans because it was pretty hot in the little bungalows outside but other than that it’s...
Read moreGreat place to eat for date night, girls night out or family/friends gatherings. It's not very big and seems to fill up fast. So get there early or make a reservation.
What I love: they have a list of cocktails that each have their own associates charity. Every time one of those is ordered, a dollar is donated to the respective charity. I love this. Made me feel like I was drinking for the children. 😉 the food is fresh and thoughtful. last night (a Friday night), I had the Scottish Salmon with the stir fry side. It was DELICIOUS! I would order this in. Super fresh, perfectly cooked veggies. The rice was well cooked and not dry. The salmon was perfectly cooked as well--nice and juicy. I hate overcooked salmon, so this made me especially happy. my friend had the chicken Caesar which she cleaned the bowl. She loved it. It's not made with typical domain though. She liked the chance up of lettuce. the first time we went was on a date night and MH tried the sushi bowl which was also fantastic.
Minor issues: I've been twice now. I have not loved every thing I've gotten (hence the 4 stars) but I can appreciate the effort even if I didn't love the execution. the drink selection is good but not great. I wish there were some fresher options. I love the trend of using flavors like lavender, egg whites and other unique ingredients. Most of their drinks seem either too sweet or too savory/strong. This last time, I tried the loopy doopy (hey, it's for the children!). It's a tangerine drink that comes with your choice of a melon or lime popsicle (by steel city pops!). The lime popsicle was superb but the drink was just okay. I didn't finish it and wouldn't re-order. I also think this should be suggested as a dessert drink as the popsicle made it feel very much like dessert. the flatbread pizzas were just okay. I would skip these if you're considering them.
Overall, we have had excellent service both times. The staff is super sweet and seems to really be passionate about their place of employment. I think they genuinely love it and love working there.
So even though I'm "only" giving 4 stars, I do highly recommend it. Hoping the restaurant gets better and better with each menu change and that I can...
Read moreWent Sunday morning, 12/15, around 10:45 am. As we pulled up a space was open in the very front, no cones, no markers, nothing to indicate that I couldn’t park there, so I did because we have a 3 year old, and it’s nice to sometime get that close spot, but as I was walking in the door, a young man yelled to get my attention, and when I turned he stated that this was a valet spot, he was just setting up, and asked to valet my car, which at first I almost did, because I figured he’s just trying to get a tip or whatever, but then before I handed him my keys, he said something about moving it, and that’s when it hit me, he doesn’t want my car parked right up front, so instead of having to deal with him, I told my family to go be seated, and moved it myself, because I’m pretty sure if my car wasn’t a 20k sedan, and some 50k suv sports car or whatever, he wouldn’t have moved it. And wouldn’t you know, when we came out, the spot was still empty. My wife mentioned maybe he just wants that spot for his rolling table that holds the keys, but really? There’s plenty of room on the sidewalk, or even in front of parked vehicle in that spot, all he would have to do is roll it out of the way for 5 seconds so that car could pull out. Just seems like good customer service would dictate leaving the car there and not forcing a customer to choose between a valet moving your car because he doesn’t like that you’re parked there, or having to move it yourself, and then blocking the spot after we left.
*changed to five stars because the food and service is always great, and the owner addressed the issue. This is a great place, and one of the best restaurants in Rockwall. To be fair, we had a mix up on one item that we ordered, which was my fault, and ate it anyway because it was my fault, but the waiter, and manager, unexpectedly discounted the item, which was greatly appreciated. We will return, simply off the actions of the owner, and the way the waiter and manager handled a...
