I ate at Las Playitas for the first time this weekend and will definitely go back. The menu is large and varied. My friends enjoyed traditional items such as enchiladas, served on one plate with sides of rice, beans, a little salad, and guacamole. They commented in particular that the enchiladas were large and very filling. The guacamole looked really good to me, a little chunky with finely diced tomatoes and onions. I was impressed with the number of seafood options on the menu, and ordered Seven Mares (Seven Seas) soup, served with 3 warm flour tortillas and a couple of lime wedges. It was delicious! It is a nicely seasoned broth- based soup loaded with seafood - large shrimp, crabmeat, chunks of tilapia, several mussels, scallops, octopus - plus cauliflower, carrots, and some diced tomatoes and onions. The soup was served steaming hot in a large bowl, honestly enough for 2 people. It's a great deal for $15. If you like seafood, you must try this soup. They also offer a spicy shrimp soup with rice. We were all impressed by the reasonable food prices and generous portions. Next time I'm in town, I will go back and save room for dessert - options include my favorites, flan, and sopapillas...
Read moreChips and salsa are always fresh. Chips taste homemade. Queso is my favorite here. We were seated quickly and had our drinks right away. Seafood nachos was a very good choice. Shrimp and scallops with delicious and fresh flavor. Hubby had the fish tacos and enjoyed them. My husband travels 48 states and says that this is the best Mexican food that he has had in a long time. That says a lot, as he spends most of his weeks in Southern Texas. He tells me that he wants to eat here each time we are in Heber. Menu prices are very reasonable for such large portions. Very clean environment with lots of seating on both sides of the restaurant. The dining area and restroom appear to be recently updated since our last visit. Nice large, sturdy wooden chairs make comfortable seating. Almost everyone walks out with leftovers for later to enjoy. Wish I had taken pictures of all of the food we were served for four people. The place can get crowded quickly at supper time, so it's best to get there a little earlier. Larger crowds present no negative impact on the food taste nor the service...
Read moreIt was ok. The menus were dirty to the touch with food debris the ice cream menu at the tables too so that kinda felt unsanitary, the atmosphere was great inside, waitresses were kinda slow and there were 3 of them and it wasn't busy at all, nopales were so salty you could barely eat them, but the choice was good. We spend much more time waiting on our food than eating. All in all a 3 is not bad. Back again and have been several times. Everytime has been an awesome experience until this one. Couldn't get anyone's attention to get us a refill on our drink. Finally some came after countless times of calling them and they came with attitude. Putourdrinks heavily down on the table and quickly walked away. Ty for your kind service. Back to...
