Everything I had except the sides was good. This place was on my way back from Georgia, and I love to try new places or places off the beaten path. The meat is smoked on site, which is always good to see (yes, I've been to a few where that isn't the case). The meat itself from pulled pork to ribs was good, and judging from what I can see others there eating, everyone liked their BBQ. The prices are fair and the service was fast and friendly. My major complaint was that the sides were absolutely terrible. I had Mac and Cheese and Potatoe Salad. The Mac and Cheese had pasta not fully cooked and watery cheese. Possibly the yuckiest I've had in a restaurant and at the price it was. I saw a few other reviews talk about the Mac & Cheese, so apparently, it wasn't a one-off issue. When I ordered the potato salad, I asked the cashier if it had onions added already. She didn't know and asked the manager/owner (?). He said it did or didn't (I honestly can't remember which one it was, if it did, i picked the onions out) and said it was store bought, so it was how it was in the package. Wow! I wasn't expecting everything to be homemade, but potato salad that was store bought? Come on! The potato salad, although I can't recall whether it was onions or no onions, I distinctly recall picking at it because it wasn't good. Seemed like it was sitting in the fridge or freezer and just plopped onto the plate when I ordered it. The potatoes were extremely tough & and they were extremely cold. At least take it out of the fridge for a few mins before serving! However, again, the meat was good, and I was thinking about getting more ribs, but I had to go. If you go there, stay away from the sides! Stick with meat with a side of more meat, lol š! *also had the apple pie dessert they offered that day. It also seemed to be store bought but was goo, so there are no complaints there. **the sauce is given to you in little pre made condiment cups. I'm not sure if it was store bought like the potato salad, but it was good. Nothing special or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAwesome place! Restaurant appears smaller than it is,but once you go in,there are lots of tables and booths. You pick your table and go look at the menu on your table. Once you decide what you want, you go to the counter and order your food. The person will give you drink cups and a number. They have ice tea dispensers with both sweet and unsweetened tea as well as a soft drink machine with several options to choose from .You may get your own refills too. When they call your number, you go get your food,or if not many people are inside, they may bring your food to your table. No waiter's or waitresses, but if you need anything, the people at the front counter will get it and they do come over and ask if you're okay or if you want anything else. You can also order takeout in side or you can call ahead. You can also go through their drive through. Their stuffed, loaded potatoes are awesome and they are big enough to serve as 2 meals ! We had BBQ pork loaded baked potatoes, but you can get them with smoked chicken or brisket instead if you wish You can have shredded cheese on your potatoes or if you prefer, you can have Queso type cheese on it! I chose shredded cheese And my Daughters chose the Queso cheese. My son and my Husband enjoyed their rib plates. You can choose from several sides. My husband said their slaw was delicious and my son loved their potato salad! We all loved their sweet BBQ sauce! Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been visiting AL a lot this year and have had a lot of local BBQ, mostly in the Huntsville area. I was on my way to Atlanta with my wife. Weāve driven down roads like Alabama St Rd. 40 before, so I knew to be on the lookout for someone cooking on the side of the road. So, I told my wife if we saw someone, that we had to stop. Well sure enough we came across Bama Boys, which had a smoker in the driveway of their corner restaurant. Not exactly what I was thinking but close enough. We literally hit the brakes and made a quick u-turn into the rocky driveway, which much to my delight, had a drive thru! The young man behind the window was super friendly and easy going. When my wife and I eat BBQ, we always get one pork and one beef bbq sandwich, to see which one is better, then whichever one is better, we order an additional one of those to go. The flavor of both sandwiches were so dang good and the meat was soft and succulent for each, that there was no clear winner. We usually will pick up a bunch of sides too but not this time. We had dinner plans in Atlanta and did not want to over do it. So, no extra sandwich to go either. With that being said, there was more than enough for my wife to enjoy! The sandwiches were piled high with meat on a soft bun. You can easily taste the smokiness of the pit that the meat was cooked in. Plus, the BBQ sauce was on point. In fact, it was the first BBQ place in AL that didnāt use a vinegar based sauce. Also, the inside of the restaurant is no frills, with a lot of picnic tables around. Made it feel even that much more authentic. At the end of the day, this is far and away the best BBQ Iāve had in Alabama....
