We ordered Pi-Squared pizza for the first time last week in Hendersonville, NC, and it was the worst pizza ordering experience I have had in over 50 years!
First, by the time it was finally delivered to our nearby hotel room, it was lukewarm. Upon opening the pizza box, we discovered that the entire pizza had been crushed and compressed into one side of the box - looking as though it had been dropped onto its side from a significant distance, or been thrown against a wall! The one free slice was stripped of its topping and the rest were mostly cheese-glued into a matted, soggy clump!
I didn't realize the condition of the pizza at first, because I was shocked at the price on the receipt. My having asked for plenty of tomato sauce had been translated into a double-sauce charge - even though we found the pizza was still lacking enough sauce. Add the mark-ups for the extra onion I did order, delivery charges and taxes and the receipt seemed over the top.
I didn't complain, surrendered the whole large bill I had in my hand, and the driver disappeared so fast that I couldn't chase her down the hall after I discovered the pulpy shock in the box!
I immediately called the store to complain. The lady who answered the call apologised profusely and seemed especially protective of the delivery person. She offered to make up for our horrible pizza experience by mailing me a $20 coupon. I told her that we live over an hour away, but agreed to accept the coupon, saying that I would hold any review of Pi-Squared granted that we were to receive the coupon by last Friday. The coupon never arrived, hence my review here about this horrible excuse for a pizza company!
Btw, I am a disabled Vietnam veteran, could not afford to throw money away for horribly-produced, over-priced pizza and I sincerely hope others will not get burned and mistreated by the company the way I have. The best way to do this is avoid Pi-Squared pizza! I have pizza photos to document my experience, available to any interested parties.
This is to edit my initial review in response to the owner's claiming that I attempted to "extort" a coupon from Pi-Squared after my miserable first experience. The reply is directed to the owner who had the audacity to address the experience laying blame on this customer and implicitly questioning my character. I have had absolutely no interactions with Pi-Squared prior to the bad pizza delivery experience and the owner's instant impugning of my intentions.
Your response is not honest and further adds to the questionable ethics of your company. I clearly complained about the crushed pizza in the box! Why would I only complain about the temperature?!! Would you like to see a photograph of that "pizza?"
Second, YOUR EMPLOYEE OFFERED the $20 coupon after I told her that it was too late in the evening for me to wait for another pizza! I did not demand a coupon, but your- company lied and did not make good on the offer! I was unwilling to wait that long again - especially after the first apparently sabotaged pie.
Finally, your order-taker hung up BEFORE I COULD EVEN GET THE FINAL PRICE! So, I could only guess the price of the pizza and your driver made off with the $20 bill for a small pizza before I could even look in the box!
Don't blame your customers for the incompetence of your employees!
If you persist in impugning my honesty in this matter, after stealing my money for cold, crushed pizza of which I could eat very little, I shall pursue you for further damages!
And if you challenge my other review postings, I shall elaborate in more detail than this correspondence, to include posting the attached photograph of the pizza I was delivered - minus the piece I was able to scratch off the top...
Read moreThe good - We really enjoyed the food! The customer service was OK. We let the cashier know it was our first time there. He welcomed us and took our order and even offered some suggestions on wing flavors. We got 2 dozen wings in 3 flavors, sweet heat, bourbon, and teriyaki. We also ordered 2 large pizzas, one round, one square, and cheesy bread sticks with marinara. In all we spent about 77 dollars including tip.
The not so good - Unfortunately, we misunderstood the menu and thought the price of the large pie included two toppings so we ordered two toppings on each pizza and spent an additional 8 dollars that we wouldn't have if we had understood the menu correctly. Our fault I guess, we should have asked...? Once we noticed the upcharges on the receipt we decided to let it go and just remember for next time.
The bad - While we were there the soda machine was not working properly and each time a customer would use the coca cola, water would leak all over the customers hand, get inside the customers cup, spill all over the floor causing a sticky mess.
The restaurant is a fast food style walk up to the counter and order then take a number and have a seat.
Seating for more than 4 people is almost impossible. We had to wait until another party left before we could seat our family of 7 down at 2 tables we put together in the back out of the way so we didn't block the walkway.
The marinara was ice cold. When I asked if it was supposed to be cold I was told "yes, it comes out of the freezer." I then asked for it to be warmed because cold marinara with warm cheesy bread sticks is gross. Come on.
Tipping was expected even though there is very minimal customer service provided. We walk up to order, get our own drinks, cleaned our own table before we could eat, set up our own seating, grabbed our own utensils. We still tipped 9 dollars because we felt obligated to do so as I'm not sure how these employees are paid and I don't want to be the a** hole who doesn't...
Read moreI placed an order at 6:43 on a Friday evening 8/20/21. I think the first red flag should have been the phone picking up to a fax machine. Wth? Regardless I called back and placed my order with a young man who was very brisk and didn't ask for my name or number, just told me my order would be ready in 15/20 minutes. I thought that was strange but I figured that perhaps they were not that busy and not many people ordered one "large" detroiter pizza. How wrong I was. The place was slammed when I showed up at the designated time. Every customer there seemed to have waited beyond the time they were told and the whole place had a vibe of chaos. The woman at the counter finally "found" my order even though they said they used called I.D. and I gave her the correct number. I paid for my order and tipped them and the cashier said she would locate my food. Strange way of saying I'll be right back with your order. A few moments later she came back and said it would be 45 minutes for my order. Double + the time I was told on the phone after already waiting 20 minutes since I had placed my order. This being the first time I've tried to do so in over two years because the last time I tried, we ordered delivery for less than half a mile away and it took almost two hours, the pizza was wrong and cold. It's crazy that this place has as much business as it does as it seems that most customers that I saw waited a while for their orders and apologies were frequent. Looked to be many hands behind the counter but I think a lack of communication and leadership is to blame for why this second chance I gave pi squared failed so epically. I waited less than 45 minutes for my "large" pizza which totalled out at 16.01 and finished out at 21.01 after tip. That large was hardly a medium anywhere else and for the disorganized and chaotic atmosphere that prevailed should have been avoided at all cost. Forget it, everywhere else does it better for less and...
