Gateway Pub — Restaurant in Henning

Ordered pizza yesterday with black olives. They were old. I have several years of food service and know enough to know that if the texture of a food is off you don't sell it. We were told by the owner that when they first opened them they thought the texture was off so they called whatever food vendor they get deliveries from and was told by that vendor that they were fine to serve. How can someone with a food license serve something they, themselves questioned? They could have sent them back for a full credit. We were offered they would make us a new 1 however I didn't have time to go get another pizza. I asked if we could get 1 at a later date and that's when I was told they had already sold half of the case which was 15 lbs. And they were fine. They did not taste fine. They didn't even smell good. I know the old owner would have made it right. Even offering a couple bucks off the next pizza would have been doable but being told there was nothing wrong with the olives was a...

PARKING: My oh my, that MNDOT main Street parking fiasco was obviously planned by someone who doesn't visit or own a biz in downtown Henning! But regardless, after parking a block away was able to dodge white pylons and get to the bar. Service was friendly and my Patty melt was delicious! The wait was a bit long but little did I know how much take out biz Gateway does in the middle of the day! Wow! Guessing that led to the seemingly long wait. Great little place in the middle of nowhere. We stopped there for a drink after we had lunch across the street. Very welcoming place for people that they know aren't from around here. Reasonable prices on the drinks. Both on and off sale in the same place plus it look like everybody was coming in for the pizza.
