Charming little bistro serving up all kinds of southern goodness. Full disclosure, the building that the restaurant is located in, would be considered a hole in the wall. I am not using that phrase to poke fun, just for reference and the reason for my atmosphere ranking. In my honest opinion, some of the best food you will ever eat, comes from rustic locations such as this. So don't let the "atmosphere" stop you. It's the food you are coming for!
We decided to try the place on a Friday evening. We got to enjoy their catfish dinner special. The meal price was amazing for all of the food that you get. Oh my goodness children, every item on my plate was made from scratch. The fish had an amazing amount of corn meal batter and it was fried perfectly!! That cook back there knows what they are doing! My only complaints on my meal. I had to add salt to my brown beans, pretty sure they don't add any salt so folks can season to their liking, but I prefer my beans cooked with salt. My hush puppies were cold. But other than those two minor things, the meal was great. We even had dessert included with our meal and it was a perfect slice of red velvet cake. What more could you ask for.
The restaurant has a great menu and I am looking forward to returning to try more of the menu. The chicken fried steak, fried pickles, and various fried fruit pies looked particularly appetizing.
This is a local dinner with typical southern charm. Bring the family on down and share a delicious...
Read moreIt was absolutely fantastic. I had the hamburger steak. I've had hamburger steaks at dozens of places, from coast to coast. This may have been the best one I've had so far. It was charred perfectly, but not overdone. The gravy was so savory I could drink it. The mashed potatoes were just the perfect amount of "lumpiness."
If I had one complaint, the beans needed salt. But they were still so fantastic, and the corn bread was actually corn bread and not the sweet corn cake they try to sell you at other "Southern" places. This was real corn bread and I loved it.
My partner had breakfast, and she enjoyed hers as well. I even enjoyed a bit of hers, and lemme tell you, try the Belgian Waffle if you're looking for breakfast. Fortunately for me, she wasn't able to finish her entire portion, so I helped her out on the waffle.
We ordered a ham steak to go for my Pink Dog, and I was blown away at how big the thing was. I found myself picking off pieces before I gave it to the dog and it was as good as everything else.
Also the people are very friendly. The waitress was great, and the owner even came over and asked us about our experience.
We had a great meal here and can't wait to go back. We're considering moving to the area and will definitely be...
Read moreMy wife and I took her Grandmother to lunch for Memorial Day weekend, we arrived shortly after 1pm and just after 2pm they started bringing out our food, and the restaurant was not very busy at all. My wife and I got the Buddy Burger Basket, and ours was first to come out, and all Grandma got was a single biscuit and gravy, and a hashbrown. No reason for it to take over an hour to cook these items. After they brought our food, the table next to us, who were here way before us and actually got their food 10 minutes into our visit, asked where the rest of their food was for their other 2 friends, and the waitress replied that she didnt "like the way the food looked" so she had it redone. I'm not sure who actually owns this place, who's in charge, etc, but your staff is awful. A girl who looks maybe 13 took our order, so who knows how many child labor laws they're breaking too. Dont waste your time coming here, it'll be a shorter wait to raise your own calf and make it into a...
