I walked in and stood at the host stand forever before anyone came to sit me. I then got sat and my server got my drink order. I asked for a Dr.Pepper. When I got the drink it was way off! Tasted diet. I then asked for a coke instead. I was told that they were out. But my server did bring me another Dr Pepper to try. Was the same. I then ordered the Firebird Appetizer which was great! Besides not having a drink to wash it down. Then I ordered the Country Fried Steak, mashed potatoes with white gravy, and green beans. I waited what felt like forever (maybe because Iām used to sipping on a drink while waiting). When I got my food, the steak was really thin and had more breading than meat which all fell off as soon as I went to cut it. Also was extremely chewy. The mashed potatoes tasted like someone dumped the entire salt shaker into the bowl. And the green beans were so burned that they crunched when I tried to stab them with a fork.
I honestly was extremely tired from work and figured Iād try this restaurant out since it was in the hotel parking lot and looked nice from the outside. I regret that choice now! But like I said, I was tired and didnāt want to wait forever for another plate. So I ate what was slightly edible and left.
My server was great! She came by often, was kind and helpful. I know the food was not her fault so I made sure to still tip her. Only reason Iām not giving 5 stars for service is for how long I stood at the host stand. I was seated right by the stand and barely seen the hostess my entire time there. With as many empty tables as there were, it should be immediate seating. Wouldāve been if the hostess was at the stand when people came in.
Then as I was getting up to leave, I looked over and the floor was soaked by the bar area, looked like someone dropped a whole pitcher. But no one was around and no wet floor sign. At that second the hostess came from the other side of the restaurant, looked at it, and said oh shoot! Then kept walking. I left the restaurant a couple minutes later and still no wet floor signā¦
Sorry, donāt mean to rant. And usually donāt do reviews. Just this visit was pretty rough.
Hope they can get these...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's too bad we can't give Dakota's10 Stars! This is the best place in Hereford to eat! Everything was cooked perfectly, and every last detail was delicious. My husband and I joined my brother and his wife recently while we were visiting. My husband had the salmon. He loves fish and isn't found of "smothering" the natural taste. He said this was, "Some of the best salmon he'd had in a long time." *This is saying a lot, as he eats salmon at least once a week. My brother and I both had a ribeye. We both ordered ours medium-rare. The interpretation of medium rare at some locations as far from what it should be and I am happy to say that Dakota's was right on the money. But, even the smaller steak was HUGE and considerably more than I could eat. My sister-in-law ordered the chicken fried steak, her favorite, and she was delighted. We both took nearly half of our steaks home to be enjoyed the next day. Our waiter, Jayden, was fantastic! We each had specific alterations to our orders and all came back exactly as we requested. I also ordered a cosmo. This isn't a terribly tricky drink to make but, only about half of the time does a location know how to make them correctly. The cosmo was perfect and, when I told him so, he smiled and said he had to look it up for ingredients and directions. I was extremely pleased that he took the time to learn how and impressed that he nailed it on his first try! Dakota's was very clean and welcoming and I completely forgot to take pictures of our fabulous meal and this beautiful establishment. The next time we are in town we will definitely return and I would highly recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHaven't been at Dakota's in years, and now I remember why. Got there around 8:04, literally had to call the restaurant at 8:22 to tell them we were sitting at the table, they asked us what tabl number we were at. How were we supposed to know what the table numbers were. 3 servers walked by our table with no drinks, no food, at least 5 times. How did no one see 3 people. When our server finally came to the table she apologized and said no one told her she had a table. Ordered our drinks, got the wrong drink when she finally came back, had to remind her to bring the right drink around 10 minutes later. Got our food before our appetizer, when we asked about our appetizer she said she forgot to put it in and the kitchen was now closed. When we were almost finished with our food she came back with the appetizer. Never seen her in between, really wanted more sour cream for my baked potato, but I didn't know my table number to call back and ask for it. She did offer free dessert, but didn't want to wait another 15 minutes for a dessert that we probably wouldn't have gotten. A waste of $75. Just save your time and money and take the drive to amarillo, or go to Parsons. By the way I'm a really good tipper, just tipped $40 at Texas Roadhouse last weekend for the same amount, for way better service. Never in my life have I tipped less than $5 but this experience I didn't even want...
